Hi all. So after completing week 4 I was feeling ok about starting week 5, 3 X 5 mins seemed very doable, but have now looked at all the runs in week 5! Run for 20 mins, really? Seems a big jump to me. Interested to hear how others found week 5 and any tips gratefully receive as now feeling a bit scared!

You will be fine. It’s not as bad as it seems. Just remember slow and steady

Did it last week. It’s not as bad as you think because you’ll surprise yourself. I did it on the treadmill instead of the road so I could pace myself better and it’s more forgiving on longer runs (my muscles & joints are still getting used to it). Just take it gently, the app ‘voices’ help to break it up.

You’ll do it and you’ll be so chuffed with yourself!!

Thanks. Wish I hadn’t looked as feeling quite nervous now but hoping after run 1 & 2 I will feel better about it.

Personally I like to be prepared, you never know what’s up the C25K sleeve. I did run thinking why didn’t they break it into two 10 minute runs, but then it gives you a big boost and prepares you for Week 6.

20 minutes does sound like a big jump, but you will already have done 2 x 8 minutes in W5R2 so it's not so very much more. You'll be fine and it feels like a real achievement when you've done it!

Thanks, I’m hoping after the first 2 runs I will feel better about it. Looking forward to feeling the buzz when I do it! 😀

Just another week of runs.. one that follows all the others... slow and steady :) Some weeks get a name for themselves... they are different..because our running has many aspects to it... just take it steady and you will be fine:)

Week 5/3 was the best run ever for me , all the doubts that almost everyone has .

The smile after you finish is the best

Don't be scared it's just another run , one to remember for all the right reasons 😊👍🏻

Thanks, it just seems such a big jump but knowing everyone else felt the same and did it is a good motivator. 😀

Having started W5 last week I felt exactly the same. I thought no way would I be able to run for 20 mins, but yesterday I did! For the first time in my life I went non stop for 20 mins and didn’t feel like I was going to collapse once( I’m reluctant to use the word run, it was more of a plod!!!) Before C25k,I would have stopped much earlier just because I thought I should, as I believed I couldn’t run. First 5 mins quite easy, upto 10 seemed really hard, but by the time Jo Whitley was telling me I had done 15 mins another 5 didn’t seem so bad! Keep with it, it is possible

Well done on completing W5R3! I can’t quite believe I’ve got this far as have always hated running and considered myself a definite non runner, but so far I’m loving it! Now it’s starting to get serious but seeing that everyone else felt the same has eased my nerves. 😀🤞🏃‍♀️

It’s scary. But weirdly, everything you’ve done before will see you through it. It works.

Thanks. Every other week has been a more gradual rise in time running so I was a bit shocked to see 20 mins! I will put my trust in the programme. 😀

Trust the programme! Lots of us here are proof that you CAN do it and it DOES work!

Don’t be scared, be positive. So much of this is about mindset...

The feeling when you crack it is just the best ever!!

Best of luck x

You're looking too far ahead. You'll be absolutely fine when you get there. We all thought exactly the same. Honest 😉

Trust the programme! 👍😁

Yep that’s my problem, wanting to know what’s to come and then scaring myself! I suppose I can’t quite believe I’ve got this far and also how much I’m enjoying it, but now it’s getting more serious. All the support on here is fantastic and is spurring me on. Thanks 😀

Do yourself a favour and have a quick peek at the W5 pinned posts and see how many have headlines that say things like ‘OMG I did It ‘ or I can’t believe I just did W5R3 etc. That’ll make you feel better. You’re being built up to do the run, in fact you’re already running some minutes it’s just that now you have intervals and on that one you don’t.

You’ll be fine we promise, after all there’s about 40,000 of us who got through!

Good luck and happy running

Thanks I will definitely do that. Knowing everyone felt the same has made me feel better about it. I have always hated running and been no good at it, but since starting this programme I am shocked by how much I am enjoying it and how good I feel afterwards. I’m a convert! 🏃‍♀️

Every W4 workout is longer than W5 workouts.

You have already run for sixteen minutes in a workout........there is no huge jump.
