After resting up for four days due to dodgey knees, I ran w5r2 today, and the knees behaved themselves! So relieved and happy to be able to carry on with the programme! Huge thanks to everyone on here who gave advice (to me and to others with knee problems). I ran today armed with new shoes (after gait analysis), knee supports and compression socks, and I went super slow and landed as gently on my feet as I could. I have been doing knee strengthening exercises and yoga on my rest days which seems to have helped. I feel like I have gone from heavy footed hare to light footed tortoise, but I am very happy with the transformation!
My heart goes out to those stuck on the injury couch for a long time - I found waiting 4 days very frustrating! I tried 2 days initially but the knee pain started up again so decided to rest for longer. If it still hurt I was going to rest for a week but thankfully haven't needed to. Never thought I would get so addicted to a running programme!
To celebrate my return to the fold I thought I would change my username to reflect my new speed (very slow) and my loyal doggy running partners - I will henceforth be known as Mutley Shuffle πππΎ

Great user name! I had dodgy knees and I started taking glucosamine with chondroitin which seems to have worked a treat for me. Good luck getting back out there
They do say the placebo effect can be as strong as the real thing.... I had read it works for some and not for others....I am swapping to hyaluronic acid tablets as these do the same thing apparently but also help with wrinkly faces!!! It's probably all a load of old tut to be honest!!
