Week 2 Run 1 Slipping and sliding

Yesterday it was raining and I really didn’t want to run.... So I didn’t. Today it was muddy and damp and I really really didn’t want to run. But I have a brill virtual training buddy who I didnt want to disappoint. Big shout out to Rua8. We both started running last week and I know if she wasn’t at the end of the tinternet, I would have given today a miss.

I basically slipped and slid my way around the course, if anyone had filmed it, I would now be a you tube sensation. I need some new trainers.... maybe at the moment even rugby boots.

Hint for the day: Get. virtual running buddy

oh and good trainers

The photo is one of the times I nearly slid off the muddy track into the vineyard

Brilliant post. Well done for getting out there despite the mud.

Virtual running buddies are awesome, and sometimes keep on running with you for years afterwards. I've even met two of mine for real. Nothing like accountability to keep you motivated !

I think without my running buddy I would have sat down with a cup of tea and promised myself maybe tomorrow

😃 That would mean you'd been listening to your gremlin. Never let your gremlin have the last word.

Gremlin??? Mrs S??? 🤣🤣🤣

Your gremlin lives in your head, and is the little voice that tells you can't, that you don't want to, that it's raining, that everyone will laugh at you, and that this running lark is totally overrated. Mine is called Gary, he wears oversized grey Y-fronts and eats a staple diet of Pringles, Carlsberg and pizza.

What is a virtual running buddy?

Someone online at a similar point as you to motivate and encourage and compare progress 👍

A friend of mine did the coach to 5K 2 years ago, she now runs marathons 😱😱

Last week she put a facebook post showing how she started and one of her friends (who I didn’t know) said she might try it I also said I might try it.

We both agreed to start the program and support each other.. So she is my virtual running buddy. We encourage each other and say how our run went.

It works for us

I am sure there is someone on here who would be your virtual running buddy.... Which week are you on?

I think I am better on my own really, as I don't have set days that I run , plus I wouldn't want to let anyone down ,

I am near to the end of this 9 week programme,

😳

Week 9!!!! What a hero

We don’t run the same days, we don’t even live in the same country

But the messages motivate me

Well done!! Looks like you might need to consider trail shoes, much better in mud!! 👏👍😁

Wow, well done for managing to keep upright and not go home covered in mud. I met my virtual running buddy in this forum and we have met up a couple of times, but we didn't run, we shared a most convivial coffee and Portuguese Custard Tart. We found we had a lot more in common than just running. ( @jancanrun I hope your ears aren't burning).

I had to leave my trainers outside, there was enough clay on them to make 3 or 4 plates and a mug or two.

it was a close thing, I nearly skidded off into the vineyard once or twice

I have just found out we can message each other... so it should be easy to find a virtual running buddy

Just think how amazing you will be without the mud !

Try another route until the mud clears and enjoy the change of scenery .

All the best

Hi RGR

Unfortunately I live halfway up a hill surrounded by vineyards. It is 1 km down the hill to the main road (which is frequented by crazy Italian drivers)

Or a 10 min walk up a steep clay dirt track (very slippery) to get to our little village.

What I do is I run along the vineyards on the slightly less hilly course.

The rain should be gone in a week or so hopefully
