Done it!

After 3 months following this great programme, I’ve finally graduated. My last run was done on a crisp, cold morning in the beautiful Pembrokeshire village of Solva, as the sun rose over the top of the hill. I was accompanied by the sound of a rushing river, tiny birds swooping and diving across my path and seagulls wheeling overhead.

I cannot praise this programme or the support provided by this forum highly enough. I was a first time runner and honestly never believed I would reach this point. It has been hard, I won’t deny it, but absolutely worth it in terms of my physical fitness and mental well-being. I would encourage anyone who is struggling with the programme to persevere and keep believing in yourself. You can do it; I did and I’m a middle-aged woman whose only form of exercise previously was the weekly shop!

I didn’t quite get to the 5k milestone (nowhere near, actually!) but I am confident that I will get there eventually, running a little bit further on each of my future runs. I now know that it’s not about the distance, but all about building stamina and maintaining a steady pace. I am totally inspired to continue my running journey and wish everyone else out there, whether you’re just starting the programme or just about to finish it, good luck. You can do it!
