Run Forest Run! Were the (helpful) words my teenage daughter shouted out the window at me this morning when she saw me set off this morning π. Even the swan that overtook me by the river on Saturday appeared to look at me with sympathy! Think he mistook me for a sloth.
I'm no Forest Gump (yet) boy, could he run! but I'm seriously thinking I need some decent trainers.
I can't seem to bend my ankles and I run so flat footed. As heavy as the Giant thudding along in Jack and the Beanstalk.
This morning was a challenge. I had a late night last night. A glass of wine. Woke up this morning, looked out the window saw the rain and thought, nah....
Then lept out of bed, and thought I can do this!
So I am pleased to report that I completed Week 1 Run 2. π
The replies I recieved on my first post definately encouraged me to keep going, so thanks everyone and enjoy your day!

Try thinking about running on tiptoes if you find yourself slapping your feet down - every so often I notice I am stamping and imagining tiptoes works for me!
And btw, as you've only just started, slow is the order of the day. Slowly will get you over the finish line; you're doing brilliantly!
Make sure you compensate with plenty water and look after your hydration. Avoid tiredness on your run days.π€π€ππ
Think about your flat foot as you call it π€as long as you are not heel striking, nothing wrong with maximising your landing area until your legs strength.Good load distribution.Avoid point loading.Plenty time for front foot , when your legs strengthen.Must be comfortable and do what is natural.ππππββοΈ
Thudding not good.πSlow and steady taking in the extra oxygen and kissing the ground gently.Slow and steady is just the no brainer of this amazing programme.πππ
Just do it like your breathing.πππ
Of course get gait analysis and good shoes.πππ
Definitely get gait analysis before buying running shoes. I waited until about W3/4 by which time I knew that I wanted to continue running & then invested in running shoes.
Lots of people wear a visor or baseball cap to keep the rain out of their eyes/ off their glasses.
Good luck with the next run. Keep posting, we will cheer for you! π
Morning Sam, well done getting out there this morning πββοΈπββοΈπ
Re Gait Analysis, Best you go to a dedicated running shop, not the likes of Decathlon....do you have a Up&Running or Sweatshop in your area? Theyβre very helpful and will sort you out!
Decent Running shoes will be the best investment youβll make!
