Rest days

Hi all. I’m just about to start week 1 and was wondering if you stick to the same days every week so you have a rest day in between but have 2 rest days before you start the next week. Or do you rest 1 day between so run different days depending on the week? Hope this makes sense. I worry about having 2 days off if I’ll get out of the flow.

Well done for starting the c25k program, it really works and is good fun too...😊

Whatever works for you is fine, as long as you do take a least one day between run days.

You can do other non-impact exercise on your rest day such as walking, swimming, yoga...

Here is a link to the guide to doing the program which had lots of tips and information...

Good luck with W1 R1... you can do it. Take it nice and steady. 😊..

Well done for getting started

Having fun and enjoyment is a given. Don’t worry about this at all. Have a rest day or two between runs as you need to allow your body to recover, and your running legs to get built. Start small is the thing and go slow. Slow and steady is the mantra. The tortoises will be there at graduation. The hares will have given up or be on the injury couch

It’s the best thing since sliced bread, and deffo the best ever free gift you’ll give yourself 👍🙂

I ran (or tried to) Mon/Wed/Fri and took the weekends off. Whatever plan you adopt will get messed around by life, but it doesn't really matter as long as you keep going.

You can do it however it suits you but always have 1 rest day in between. I usually run on same days each week to fit round other things.

Well done for starting and enjoy the programme 👏

I do Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday every week. 2 days off is great. You really feel better after it. I’m going to start cycling on the rest days which is apparently ok to do as non impact 👍🏽 Good luck. You can do this because even I have almost completed it now!

I’ve just completed week 1

I had 2 days off between 2nd and 3rd runs and actually 3rd run today somehow seemed slightly easier Take it slowly is best advice I received from here and really can’t stress enough if you ( like me) beginner and more of senior citizen

I have no set days and fit it in as and when I can. As everyone else says, as long as you have one day between sessions then it should be ok. Good luck and enjoy.

I don't think it matters too much. All the two day break does is make me long for the run even more. Relax and enjoy! 😊

Do what works for you. Your body will soon tell you if it needs an extra rest day (or two!)

Hi. I run Mon/Wed/Fri and go out early before work. I find this works best for me as I would find an excuse not to go when I got home from work! Having said that, I had to go out this morning as was away yesterday and knew that if I didn’t I wouldn’t be able to start a new week on Monday and I may start to slip. Also running first thing really sets me up for the day! I’m about to start week 4 and am loving it (and I hate running, so how did this happen??!!). 2 days off at the weekend doesn’t stop me from wanting to go again on Mondays, in fact I really look forward to it! Again, how did this happen??? Good luck and enjoy. 🏃‍♀️

We all do what works for us... as long as there is at least one day's rest between runs:)

Bluebirdrunner has given you loads of great advice and links:)

My work schedule means I will have to mix it up. I’m trying to do Sunday Tuesday Friday so there will always be a different gap through the week, but eg next week I’m going to have to do Sunday Wednesday Friday (or Saturday)
