Week 9 started well and completed R1. R2 I had to slow to brisk walk for A bit in the middle. Couldn't complete R3 walked the last 3 minutes. Then had two weeks where I couldn't run. Went back to week 6 and have done run 1&2 but finding it hard. Dreading R3!
Week 9 defeated me: Week 9 started well and... - Couch to 5K
Week 9 defeated me
I couldn’t do run 2, at all, it was dreadful!! Going to try repeating it tomorrow but I have visions of rewinding a bit too...
Isn’t it disheartening?! But I guess positivity helps and we have to tell ourselves we can do it!!
Good luck x
Can I ask why you walked last 3 min? Was there a severe pain or did you panic with breathing or something else? . I think it's common to get to a run and feel something isn't right. Don't be hard in yourself you had a go at run 3 and will try again. It hasn't defeated you. To be honest at this stage it is more mind over matter. It's really a mental thing I like to keep completing week 9 now but just running for 20-30 minutes after the session stops just to keep me on track and someone in my ear for encoragement. Keep going you can do it.its just a matter if when
Sue, well done for your determination to keep going. It was still a good run by a very new runner- your body doesn’t know how many minutes you were aiming for - nothing wrong with a practice run!
Next thing is go slower - so it feels like you are running more slowly and gently than you actually need to - running well within your ability . That might make all of the difference.
At W6 & 7, I thought I was never going to enjoy continuous running and decided that after graduating I would run the Jeff Galloway pattern of 15min run/ 2min walk etc. I then continued C25K and by the time I had graduated, although I occasionally did that, I grew into liking the continuous running after all! Slowing my pace even more made a big difference to sustainable running- and more important - my enjoyment! Good luck, if you want to run for your health, you will find a way that suits you. 😄
So ran for 30 minutes, then you ran for 30 minutes and then you had a blip................if you really had to go back, that is fine, but don't make a battle of it. You know you can run the distance, so maybe you were coming down with something or just having an offday.
Are you running at an easy conversational pace, as described in the guide to the plan (which it is still not too late to glean useful advice from). Many say they are not enjoying it until they discover running at a pace at which they can hold a clear ungasping conversation, then all of a sudden, running becomes a pleasure, not a chore.
This is all about endurance leading to longevity.......... you can do this, there is nothing to fear.

I think that’s a little blip. I don’t think you needed to go back to week 6! But anyway it might make you more confident. You’ll do it 👍🏽
