Check this out and welcome to the programme:)

Aches and pains are normal at the start :)

Read the advice... make sure you warm up well and stretch after each and every run... slow and steady is the way :)

You should be fine to move to your next run..but keep it slow:)

Yes that’s fine

It’s normal to ache and feel niggles if you've not been used to running or exercise in general. You only have to go very slowly. Keep going! It’s a brill programme and is designed for everyone !

Very wise. If you haven't done any exercise like running you can expect to feel some aches but you shouldn't feel actual pain. If it continues you should get it looked at. If it is fading, give yourself another day or so and take the next run slowly and gently - in Oldfloss 's words try to kiss the ground, not flatten it. It may be a bit late to suggest icing but a bag of peas (wrapped in cloth) might give you some relief. Best wishes for the rest of the programme, I'm sure you will get their with patience.

I have been swimming 4-5 times a week for 18 months plus regular walking 5-10K but no running for years (am 64) did the brisk walking to warm up but found the running part hard and the 'niggles' off putting. Will swim again tomorrow and take a walk and put next run off till sat. thanks for your input.

Hi Skeenie. The niggles will wear off Old Floss's advice was spot on. They were perhaps more than you were expecting, as although you are swimming and walking fit, you're not running fit (body needs to get used to the impact of running and how the muscles are used in a different way to your other two exercise routines). Best wishes for a much less painful run on Saturday.

Not what you're looking for?
