Back in week 4 I had a dodgy ankle problem and sought ( and gained) some advice on this forum about what to do next. I ended up parking the bus for a week for recovery then dropped back to week 3 to ease me back into to flow. I was doing great upto last week until I had a reaction after week 6 run 1. It was fine at the time but rather than the day after aches easing off through the day, the left knee stayed stiff and felt swollen. I've missed 2 sessions this week and plan to drop back to week 5 on Monday. I'd just like to say thanks to all who contribute to this forum as it stops this apprentice runner from saying " Its not for me" to " if they can - I can"!!π

If you are prone to injury then slow down to reduce the impact on your body until it has developed.
Are you wearing proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop? If not, they may be contributing to the problem.
Take care.
Ok, that's not unusual and can be fixed, I also had terrible knee and ankle injuries and wasn't able to run for months each time.
I was my own enemy and contributed to very painful and prolonged time out.
The main causes were inadequate shoes, no gait analysis, hard and long running right from beginning - and skipping rest days. On top, l was working out and doing completely wrong squats with weights, further buggering my knee. I deserved to be punched in the face, hard, with a clenched fist. More than once.
If your symptoms persist and resist ice and resting, go and see a physio or an osteopath. Google the best out there, that should be money well spent,. Avoid the painkiller temptation, that's just covering the cause.
All the best!
