I had thought I'd have an extra rest day but I was feeling a little down after spending the afternoon with my elderly friend who had just admitted she had been trying to actively reduce her food intake to starve herself. 👎 she did have lunch with me though and I left her in better spirits but I felt a need to get out and escape from thoughts of how little I can really do for her.
I felt tired but my stats actually showed faster than the last one. I made a point of enjoying the views of the South Downs as I crossed back over the hill. I focused on breathing, I got a slight calf cramp at 20 mins but by visualising my muscles absorbing the oxygen as I used my breath holding technique, I managed to see it off.
A very contemplative run overall and one step closer to the grand finale!! 👍😉

Well done you, so close to the finish line now! Sorry to hear about your friend, hope it all works out... Glad you used the run to clear your head and enjoyed it...
Looking forward to seeing your triumphant graduation run post! Go go Jo jo!
What an inspirational post. Life throws all kinds of c*** at us and it can be hard to process at times. Sounds like running is providing you with lots of benefits to see you through, and I love your use of mindfulness - type techniques such as observing the natural world around you and adopting specific breathing techniques. I’m trying to do the same (W9 r2 tomorrow) and liked hearing your experience. I guess it’s all part of discovering what running offers each of us once we’ve opened our minds to the idea that we can actually do this previously impossible thing! All the best for your final run.
One to gogo jo jo. Brilliantly done and greta technique for the calf cramp. The podium awaits
