Week 5 Run 3 Completed!

I can't believe it but I actually completed week 5 today!

I ran 2.5K in the 20 minutes which I'm pleased with but also feels a long way of 5K in 30 minutes! Am I running much slower than everyone else, or is this a normal pace?

You run at the speed that is right for you... this is your run... we cannot compare with other folk.. :)

As long as you are following the programme, running comfortably and without a struggle.. that is brilliant! Well done:)

You’re fine honestly very few of us get to the unicorn like 5k in 30 minutes, but as each week rolls on you will find your distance increases naturally. Most of us hit the 5k after graduating. The key thing is the 30 minutes continuous running...

Happy running

I'm in week 8 and started wondering about my pace around week 5. I installed Strava on my phone to track it better. Since then I've gained a bit of speed. It tells every 0,5 km what my pace is and it motivates me to keep it under 8m/km and to keep a steady pace. I'm a competitive kind of person and improving run after run is a nice challenge.

However, C25K is not about speed so don't overdo it :-) We're all doing fine as it is!

Hold up, can we not just focus on the fact that you ran for 20 mins straight?! That's epic 😀 Distance is irrelevant.

Glad you said that. I always feel despondent reading posts about speed/distance. I crawl along at a snails pace and can't imagine I'd ever do 5k in 30 mins! 😮

That's a good pace. 30 minutes is just a guideline. Most of us will be lucky to do 5k and if we do it will be in the 40 - 50 minute range. But you may gain speed later on or even after you've finished the programme. So a pat on the back for you for your current pace. I learnt the hard way that slow is better and will more likely allow you to finish the programme. Well done.
