Having sailed through week 5 run 3, I was quite confident this morning with the first run of week 6 but it was HARD! I persevered and managed to finish it but I know lots of others have found it difficult too but I don't understand why? It's the first time I've struggled with any of the runs. I'm going to take the weekend off and then do run 2 on Monday.
Why is week 6, run 1 so difficult?: Having... - Couch to 5K
Why is week 6, run 1 so difficult?
It catches most of us out.
I think we're on such a high after running for 20 mins continuously, so then we think W6R1 will be easy cos we have walking breaks,... and then our body's remind us that running with breaks IS stil hard! But, you've done it, so be proud... onwards and upwards

I'm with Liz, the exuberance we had at achieving the 20 min run is gone, we think it will be easy but the body rebels! Good idea on the weekend off. Come back fresh 👍💪😁
I think after the euphoria of completing w5r3 we all come out a little over confident and possibly set off a little fast
this was my nemesis run - the only one I had to re-do. I think re-setting to intervals is tough, but actually it’s good because it is giving you pace and recovery times. And these do help in the long run. It still felt crap to me, but you’re not alone believe me!
It has got a name for itself.. along with Run 3 Week 5.... and it has the ability to throw some folk..
But..if you take it really slowy and steadily it is fine... We used to, and still do sometimes warn folk to just be prepared... but, we don't want to worry folk before they run it.
The plan is so structured and about so much more than just running.. testing our strength , stamina and the discipline in our runs.
Plenty of stretching and exercise over the weekend and then head on...knowing
that you can do this

Well done
I'm due to do W6R1 tomorrow so taking the above warnings and advice on board, I'll be aiming for a slow & steady run (at least to start with). Hopefully I'll be back with good news tomorrow evening
It is actually your longest workout to date......
I am just a couple of runs ahead 7.1 today.👍
I have only become totally engrossed in the C25k running programme in the last few weeks.A novice runner and a Newbie.👍

I started with a good knowledge of how to prepare, because I already did a lot of walking, strength, cardio, weight control, fitness stuff.I did not have what follows and in fact was completely weighed down with monkeys and gremlins on my shoulders.😂😂😂
