I haven’t been feeling great the last couple of weeks. Hubby has been hit with the Aussie flu but I’ve just had a cough and cold and feeling lethargic. I’ve still been running but not hitting my 3 times a week target for last couple of weeks.
I’ve been going twice a week but it’s been a bit of an effort.
Got up early today to go for my 30 minute run. A dry fresh day. I’m determined to keep running. I’m not a natural runner and have found it hard to keep it up but every time I am out there I realise why I’m doing it. It does make me feel refreshed and better about myself. Hoping that we will be getting some warmer weather and that will encourage me to get back running 3 times a week again

Sorry to hear you have been poorly - but I am totally impressed that you have still been getting out twice a week! I had a series of coughs/colds/injuries before and after Xmas, and I know how frustrating it is. Don’t forget it never hurts to take a full week or so off running if you need to. I hope hubby is on the mend now. Flu - yikes!
Good for you for getting out today too. Beautiful, wasn’t it? I am not a “natural” runner either, but I am totally hooked on how I feel afterwards and how much better I feel generally day to day. Makes me wish I had not waited until my forties to start! I don’t think it’s an issue to find running hard - it’s the will to keep it up, clocking up those miles, that will eventually make it more manageable. I don’t even freak out anymore when a run is hard - I just slow right down and tell myself “no stopping Sadie, only if your legs drop off can you stop”. The slowing down, combined with good music, keeps me powering on.
Thank you for you’re support and reply. I’ve always wanted to be one of those runners who glides along with ease looking so fresh and loving it.
I do love the feeling I get after running but I do find it hard. I guess it’s doing me good. I take it slowly. I still can’t hit 5K in 30 mins but I can run 5k if I keep going a little longer.
I’m so glad I started C25k. I think it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself. I’m going to keep on going and hopefully can improve and find it a little easier 🤗
Of course it’s doing you good! I am at a similar stage in my “running career” as you - I cannot run 5k in 30 mins, but I can run 5k if I push on a bit - and that in itself is a good sign!
I have a plan - you could join me? Once I have a few more weeks of 5k runs under my belt I am going to try some interval training, just to mix things up. Cannot hurt! But for now, keep running regularly and steadily. We are both still very new runners in the grand scheme of things. 😘
Sounds good. Yes, I keep forgetting I only started running in September. I’m 46 years old and not ever done running before so I should be proud of myself.
I like the idea of mixing it up a bit. I’ve been concentrating on either running for 30 mins or inning 5k. I can run for longer when I go with my friend.
I've had the same feeling as you with lots of work and bad colds, low energy levels probably due to lack of vitamin D, and some 30 mns runs are still a struggle. 2 long runs in the week, it's already very good especially if you don't feel well. So, well done on your determination!
Once you feel better, you could try a shorter run in the week with two longer ones. For the first time last week, I tried to run intervals on the W1 podcast, and it was very enjoyable. And even if I'm still struggling on the 5K in 30 mns, I've signed up for Ju-Ju's 10k plan, just to see how far I can go. You could also have a go I hope you'll feel better soon in any case and be able to get back out ther 3 times a week.
