Since I graduated I've hardly posted on here, and only lurked a bit, but I realised that I was missing the incentive that this board gave me. I have kept up running every two days for at least 30 minutes (haven't dared to progress to any other whizzy C25K+ or Bridge to 10K programmes yet) but sometimes it's really hard going. Maybe it's the weather, or my schedule, but mostly I think it's because I'm not planning my post while I'm out. So quick update - this week I have managed two runs of over 4km at sub 8 minute/km pace. That's progress for me, even if I'm still planning my routes to avoid as many slopes as possible.
Anyway, I've decided to hang out here a bit more - half term next week so I should have more time to run and write!
Thanks for still being here.

Hi Liz, Well done for getting three runs in the week! I graduated in November and I must say that some 30 mn runs are still a struggle, the difference being that I know I will be able to run the 30 minutes or more. So, I feel more relaxed about it and accept that on some days, my body is not responding as well as I'd like it to! I don't really know why. Like you said, perhaps the weather but I think it's just that midwinter low: we should be able to get more energy when spring really comes and days get longer.
I've signed up for Ju-Ju's 10K programme to keep motivated and get a plan to run longer (not necessarily want to get to 10K absolutely). You might go onto the 10K forum to have a peek.
Lovely to hear from you! And it is fantastic that you have been running regularly since graduating.
Since it transpires I do not have a competitive bone in my body (even in terms of competing against myself), I have been doing something similar to you. I get out three times a week and run for 30 mins each time. Coming back from time off after injury this is challenging enough for me, and I am running because a) the joy! b) because I can c) for the post run buzz. All good reasons for now.
I might start increasing distance to get back to 5k again, at the moment I am running around 4.4 km in 30 mins, so not a great leap. Have signed up for some virtual 5k runs, one in March and one in May. Have you thought about doing something like this?
Winter running is hard sometimes, but we are on the up to Spring now! I check in to the forum to see if I can offer support now and then, and to keep up with pals. I love being part of this community and it keeps me engaged in running too.
Good to see an update from you as have wondered how you were getting on. Seems like better than me! I had 2 weeks off in between due to schedule, weather and being really ill. Got back to it this week as it was half term and managed to fit in the 3 runs with one being 5k (that takes me 35 mins to complete though) and the other just 20 mins! From next week I will be back to doing just 2 runs a week as that’s all I can manage! I’m envious of you running every 2nd day and think that is so amazing that you are keeping up with that! Like yourself, I’ll probably hang in here for while too! X
Run and write? Impressive. I struggle to run and breathe at the same time. (Apologies for my rubbish joke.)
For an incentive I would recommend you do your local parkrun on a Saturday morning. Judging by your pace you should easily go round in less than 40 minutes and you should be in good company. Starts the weekend off a treat. You can use your other runs as a sort of build up. just a thought.
