Week 6 run 2 after bootcamp does breathing get easier

Got to week 5 loving it in preparation for bootcamp. A week of military fitness 7 hours a day survived and felt stronger and fitter plus lost inches. Now to do second run since back and don’t feel any fitter still struggling to breathe in through nose and out through mouth does it ever get easier?

I was really struggling with breathing- posted on here, asked runners I know etc, I was obsessing about it! Timing breaths, trying to belly breathe, in through nose out through mouth...it was so frustrating!

But now all I do is concentrate on going slow, which I actually find really hard! But that’s all it needs, then just breathe however you need to breathe! Now all I do is try to keep breathing deeply.

I still get more out of puff than I’d like and don’t think I could hold a conversation as such, but I know that will get easier.

I was chatting to someone the other day, he said the more he can hear/thinks about his breathing the harder he finds it! So he listens to a podcast or playlist so he can't hear himself and that really works. We probably all over think a bit because we want to do it 'right' and understand our bodies. I'm on wk 5 run 3 tonight and still learning too, so I have a playlist for tonight! Just be careful if you're out on your own, or near traffic etc :)

I don't think I could get enough air in through my nose. And I've got a big nose.

I can't even imagine breathing through nose while running. I always breathe through mouth and my breathing has improved significantly since the beginning of the programme. Now I almost never have to stop running because of breathing, and this was the main issue before.

Read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which covers breathing and many other issues.

If you can't breathe, slow down.

Thanks I ran it yesterday and decided not to worry too much about breathing it ended up being a mixture of nose and mouth and it worked. Next run is Monday so will see how it goes. Lost 5 kilo in two weeks bootcamp definite works! Now I just need to keep it up.
