I woke up early this morning, but it looked so cold and icy out I made myself a cuppa and slunk back to bed. But this was no good, I was supposed to be running. For some reason I just didn’t feel like it. As I reached for my phone I realized what it was. I needed a new playlist…
After checking out a few tunes on Hidden 's latest podcasts, I decided to enjoy the warmth and put together a new list of my own. So although this new diversionary tactic took about 40 minutes of general faffing on Youtube and Deezer, I was at last armed with some music that I wanted to listen to, and so had to get out of bed and get going.
It didn’t take me long to get kitted up and on my way.
The beginning of the run started well, and Talking Heads’ “We’re on the Road to Nowhere” seemed like an appropriate choice. I’m still easing myself back in after spending too long on the injury couch, and I knew I needed to take it steady. And a bit of ZZ Top’s “Gimme All Your Lovin' " was perfect to keep me going when my mind was telling me it was about to get tough.
🏃🏽♀️
I’ve got to run a lot.
My legs are tired, as are my feet.
I’m starting to feel hot.
I wish that I could take a seat.
☀️
Gimme all your runnin',
Sun is out enjoy the view.
Gimme all your runnin',
Can't let up until I’m through.
🏃🏽♀️
I’ve got to speed it up
Or I could just have stayed in bed.
Determined not to stop
Not letting my legs turn to lead.
🏃🏽♀️
Gimme all your runnin',
Past crocuses with yellow hue.
Gimme all your runnin',
A field of cows all saying moo.
🐄
I’ve got to move it up,
Get up the hill and to the wood.
Now running like a pup,
My second wind, I’m feeling good.
🐶
Gimme all your runnin',
Through mud which sticks to me like glue,
Gimme all your runnin',
I hope it’s mud and not dog poo!
💩
Gimme all your runnin',
Did 8k then another 2.
Gimme all your runnin',
Now I’m home I’ll have a brew.
☕
By the time I was home I was feeling on cloud nine.
😊 😊 😊 😊
