Woke up this morning to bright cheerful sunshine, so a positive start to my Week 6 Run 2. I'd got my new running shoes on, which I've only run in once before, and I was keen to take them out in the park.
It was lovely run, but I was put in mind of the Michael Rosen children's book, We're Going on Bear Hunt:
I'm going on a long run, I'm going to have good fun,
What a beautiful day!
I'm not scared.
Uh oh, a hill - a big steep hill!
Puff pant, puff pant.
I’m going on a long run, I'm going to have good fun,
What a beautiful day!
I'm not scared.
Uh oh, some grass, wet slimy grass!
Swishy swashy, feet are wetty.
I’m going on a long run (etc…)
Uh oh, mud – thick gooey mud!
Squelchy, squelchy, trainers mucky.
I’m going on a long run (etc…)
Uh oh, woodland – thick roots on the path!
Stumble, trip, stumble, trip.
I’m going on a long run (etc…)
Uh oh, leaves – wet autumn leaves.
Slippy slidey, slippy slidey.
I’m going on a long run (etc…)
Uh oh, brambles – overgrown with nettles!
Scratchy stingy, scratchy stingy.
I went on a long run, I had myself some good fun,
What a beautiful day!
I wasn’t scared.
Oh yes, a shower – a lovely hot shower.
I’ll be going on a long run again.
