After a weekend walking in Dorset (10 miles on Saturday from Bridport to Burton Bradstock to West Bay/Broad Church setting and another 5 on Sunday) I was supposed to be running yesterday but put it off as the heavens opened when I was about to set off. I find running in the rain so hard: the rain sits dripping on my glasses; my eyes get distracted; my vertigo kicks in; and I invariably end up on the floor at some point (I didnāt want a repeat of Fridayās tumble). Not to mention the fact that itās cold and wet, and I end up looking like a drowned rat. So I had virtuously gone off to the gym, completed a workout, plus Day 5 of Rignold 's Lenten Challenge and vowed that come rain or shine I would run today.
Unfortunately as soon as Iād got my kit on drizzle started to appear, but I thought it would soon pass and set off undeterred. It wasnāt long before the drizzle turned into a downpour and my showerproof breathable jacket decided to kick out from itās usual routine tasks of keeping me dry, by letting the rain in and stopping any moisture from wicking out.
So there I was, running through the park, focusing on an old playlist, when my dear friends Katrina and the Waves came on just to take the p*** even more. āWalking On Sunshine,ā I donāt think soā¦

I used to think, āRunning, I loved it.ā but now Iām not sure.
Iām thinking that I should turn round and head back to my door.
I thought it would only be drizzle, but the rainās coming down.
Canāt see through my glasses, itās making my head spin around.
Itās raining in run time (Wow!)
Just raining in run time (Wow!)
Keeps raining in run time (Wow!)
And don't it feel good ???
Hey,
Not right now,
Not sure it feels good.

I thought that my hat would protect me, now I know thatās not true.
Then cars go through puddles, they splash me š¦, my language is blue *@#*
I wish I had run at the weekend
Avoided this spray, oh no, no.
So soggy, wet through front and back
Wonāt the rain go away? (Oh yeah now!)
Itās raining in run time (Wow!)
Just drenching in run time (Wow!)
Keeps pouring in run time (Wow!)
And don't it feel good ???
No, not right now
Iām not feeling good (Meh!)
Iām in a bad mood.

Carrying on my run, determined to keep upright, reach my target and finish the words to this song, I was fortunate to get some shelter in the wood, so did a couple of laps before I realised that the rain was easing off.

I feel wet gloves, less from above. Will I dry off? Iāll run with zeal.
I feel wet gloves, less from above. Will I dry off? Iāll run with zeal.
Itās dry now, fun time.
Iām covered in grime.
See flowers of springtime.
And donāt it feel good.
Alright now,
Iām feeling real good. āŗ
