šŸŽ¶Raining in Run TimešŸŽ¶ (Katrina & The Waves, apologies šŸ˜‰ )

After a weekend walking in Dorset (10 miles on Saturday from Bridport to Burton Bradstock to West Bay/Broad Church setting and another 5 on Sunday) I was supposed to be running yesterday but put it off as the heavens opened when I was about to set off. I find running in the rain so hard: the rain sits dripping on my glasses; my eyes get distracted; my vertigo kicks in; and I invariably end up on the floor at some point (I didnā€™t want a repeat of Fridayā€™s tumble). Not to mention the fact that itā€™s cold and wet, and I end up looking like a drowned rat. So I had virtuously gone off to the gym, completed a workout, plus Day 5 of Rignold 's Lenten Challenge and vowed that come rain or shine I would run today.

Unfortunately as soon as Iā€™d got my kit on drizzle started to appear, but I thought it would soon pass and set off undeterred. It wasnā€™t long before the drizzle turned into a downpour and my showerproof breathable jacket decided to kick out from itā€™s usual routine tasks of keeping me dry, by letting the rain in and stopping any moisture from wicking out.

So there I was, running through the park, focusing on an old playlist, when my dear friends Katrina and the Waves came on just to take the p*** even more. ā€œWalking On Sunshine,ā€ I donā€™t think soā€¦

šŸŒ§ļø šŸƒšŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

I used to think, ā€œRunning, I loved it.ā€ but now Iā€™m not sure.

Iā€™m thinking that I should turn round and head back to my door.

I thought it would only be drizzle, but the rainā€™s coming down.

Canā€™t see through my glasses, itā€™s making my head spin around.

Itā€™s raining in run time (Wow!)

Just raining in run time (Wow!)

Keeps raining in run time (Wow!)

And don't it feel good ???

Hey,

Not right now,

Not sure it feels good.

šŸŒ§ļø

I thought that my hat would protect me, now I know thatā€™s not true.

Then cars go through puddles, they splash me šŸ’¦, my language is blue *@#*

I wish I had run at the weekend

Avoided this spray, oh no, no.

So soggy, wet through front and back

Wonā€™t the rain go away? (Oh yeah now!)

Itā€™s raining in run time (Wow!)

Just drenching in run time (Wow!)

Keeps pouring in run time (Wow!)

And don't it feel good ???

No, not right now

Iā€™m not feeling good (Meh!)

Iā€™m in a bad mood.

šŸ˜’

Carrying on my run, determined to keep upright, reach my target and finish the words to this song, I was fortunate to get some shelter in the wood, so did a couple of laps before I realised that the rain was easing off.

šŸŽ¶

I feel wet gloves, less from above. Will I dry off? Iā€™ll run with zeal.

Itā€™s dry now, fun time.

Iā€™m covered in grime.

See flowers of springtime.

And donā€™t it feel good.

Alright now,

Iā€™m feeling real good. ā˜ŗ

You are priceless, how you can re-lyric these songs remembering the route and the circumstances. I love them - was K& The W one of ā€˜oursā€™ as the retro -runners choice?

Should I be buying you a guilt PCT?

The playlist was from last February so I think it may have preceded the Retro Runners, so no need for guilt. I hadn't listened to this particular playlist for ages. I may well avoid it in future unless it's a sunny day.

Ok no guilt PCT purchase then....

No guilt, but may need you to reserve the PCTs. :-)

Love it! One of my fave songs and parts of the country - we have very good friends in Loders just by Bridport so often walk along those stretches of coastline. I know I'll be singing 'It's raining time' to myself the next time I get caught out by the weather! Thanks!

OMG I was staying in Loders with a friend who has a beautiful cottage just opposite the pub there. It was a girls weekend with some old school friends. Small world.

Loders is a beautiful little village.

Small world indeed! Loders is very sweet isn't it? Lovely area for a get together. I miss being near the sea.

I quite like running in rain so long as it's not a torrential downpour. I wear a running cap to keep the rain off my face.

Thanks Getfitok , I had a cap on to allegedly keep the rain off my face, but it wasn't too effective. ;-)

Like you, I don't mind a little rain, but this turned into an absolute deluge, and because I have damage to my inner ear my balance is compromised when I can't see properly and I get very dizzy and off balance, which ain't good when you're running. The same happens when it's dark, which is why I cannily running daylight. But it all adds to the excitement, but I do hate falling over.

I think I need windscreen wipers on my specs. :-)

Well done Raz!!!!!! Love it ! Good old Katrina. Walking on sunshine! Good for her. For us poor beggars it's not so bloody hot

It's raining again though! Sigh Off to the hairdressers later and it always rains.

Out tunes certainly save us, I don't know what I'd do without them. I keep thinking I should try running without any music, but I'm too scared to try.

Oh I Do! Often. I run without music if I am road running because I need my wits about me
