I’m doing something like this for the first time. I’ve signed up for a 5k run in June😰😬 main aim is to lose weight so I can get pregnant again. Plus chase after my 3 year old! Any advice for someone who is currently overweight by 8 stone plus would be great!
Thanks

When are you doing your first run? I’m about 5 stone heavier than where I’d like to be. I haven’t done any running for over 5 years and started this app 2 weeks ago. I’m due to start my 3rd week on my next run. I couldn’t run for more than ten seconds or so when I started, I’d give up but find the app really motivating, I just keep thinking that I have to run until it says I can stop, whereas usually I’d tell myself that it’s ok to quit earlier on, when actually, I could have kept going! Im impressed with the app thohhh I am really panicking about week 3, as the time to run doubles! Good luck on your run. Let us know how it goes!
I just walk for a couple of minutes, I don’t do the full 5 minute warm up (I think it is) 🙈.. Good luck!
Most of it is down to your thoughts. If you told yourself you had to run for 3 minutes, you’d definitely manage 1 minute. It’s all in the way we think! Though I do also think how much longer I could run for without the extra weight.. but then I just think of what I’ll be capable of once the weights off! Go for it!!
Drink plenty of water the day before as well as the day your due to run as dehydration can cause a 'stitch' take your time, it's about building up distance rather than speed. Good luck! I'm currently on week 8 and I never thought it would be possible but here I am. We even repeated some of the earlier runs as didn't feel ready for the next jump up in time.
Go for it! Run slowly. Drink lots of water even on non-running days. I'm on W3. The jump from W2 was easy peasy as W1 and W2 get you ready for it. I have 6 stone to lose xx
