Congratulations on starting C25K and welcome to the forum, do not worry about being too big, everyone here on C25K are all shapes and sizes so no worries there. Remember to take all your runs slow and steady, you can also repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, good luck for your running journey with C25K.

Good luck! Just remember to slow down and slow down again. You may need to purchase some proper underwear to hold things in place! Have fun 👍🏽

Don’t be worrying about starting. Get out there and just do it. If you need to repeat then all you do is repeat having a rest day in between your runs. Your biggest critic will be yourself. Anyone who laughs at you or taunts you are not even worth the wasted time you will spend worrying about their comments. Go out there do your best and be true/honest to yourself. I started 6 weeks ago and tomorrow is my 3rd run of the week. It’s a 25 minute run. Just think you may be doing that in some 6 weeks time. Happy running 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Enjoy- after the first few runs something magical will happen and a confidence boost is guaranteed- then you really won’t care what you look like because you will be focusing on your running and completing each one - (this has certainly been my experience to date - I am now on run 3 of week 8) - I wobble with a lot more confidence these days 😉 Good luck!

Welcome to the group! Enjoy your run today - remember slow and steady - look up Japanese slow jogging on YouTube, it’s a low impact running style that kinder to your joints. Have fun! Exciting times to come 👏🏻

Welcome along ! I sympathise with the bouncing. Assuming you’re a girl, Glamourise do a really brilliant large sports bra. I’m going through the programme for the second time and I didn’t have it last time. Massive difference, and much less terrifying for innocent passers by ! Have fun out there. Take it slow and steady. We’re all here cheering you on x

Well done for starting. I'm big aswell and had the same worries as you. But as they've said, a good bra is a must.

When I started, I was worried about people looking and being judgemental, but over the last week, I've noticed that people dont really take much notice and carry on with what they're doing (or are probably envious because they aren't doing anything themselves).

I've surprised myself doing this programme. I thought cause I'm big I wouldn't stand a chance and would give up in the first week. But I'm on week 6 now and determined to finish.

Good luck, you will be amazing. Be kind to yourself and you will succeed. :)

I’m also big n start c25k a few weeks ago. I do train in the gym 5 days a week and a friend told me to get c25k downloaded. I did n here I am starting wk 9 an loving it. Never did I ever think it was possible to keep goin and get this far.

As others have said a good sports bra makes all the difference, Get started and enjoy u will soon b addicted 😀

Well done for getting started.

I hope you have a great first run, and as everyone on here says, keep it slow and steady and the Japanese slow jogging video is a great way to start. You'll soon be moving through the programme and notice small changes. I've just finished W2 and I do find myself sometimes thinking will I get out today... but I just read through some of the stories on this site and get motivated... and off I go.

If in doubt, check back here, it's full of inspiration and support.

Hi Kia, before i started running I admired every runner, any shape, any speed just for getting out there. Now that i run, I still admire any runner because I know how hard it is. People pushing their own boundaries to get better/healthier/happier is something to be celebrated.

Hopefully you have now done your first run, in which case congratulations! Don't worry about people looking at you running - in my experience nobody really takes much notice except walkers or other runners, who always smile or say hi. Stick with the programme and you will be a proud C25K graduate ☺

I am also on the bigger size of the spectrum but I just did my first park run this morning after completing couch to 5k this week. Honestly, you can do it, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and listen to whoever you have guiding you. Make sure you’re comfortable in whatever you’re running in too as I often felt uncomfortable which made me not want to finish a run.

thanks the last jog and a half was hard. but that was my first day roll on my 2nd day

Same here but so what?? Stick to the programme as much as you can, keep reading/blogging and seriously you’ll experience lifetime changes all round! Welcome aboard 👍🏃‍♂️

You have made a great decision. As for the bra, I’d recommend a Shock Absorber. They are fab and will help you to feel comfortable as you run. The people you pass will invariably be encouraging. Enjoy the challenge and keep looking on this site where you’ll find loads of much needed support.

Hi, well done for starting! Yes things will move! There’s lots of good advice been given here. As well as the foundation advice, I wore some supportive leggings. Zero gravity was an exaggeration 🤣 but they helped too. Good luck. You’re going to love it 😊

madmother profile image

Well done you for starting. Do not worry about your size or what others think. If you are seen running by a fellow runner they will be silently spurring you on and if you are running past people who are not running/runners then remember that you are doing more than they are.

You’ll love this plan. Trust it because it works and you can do it. You will reap physical and mental benefits and soon there will be no stopping you. Slow slow slow. Good luck, can’t wait to watch your progress. X
