Will be running for the first time tomorrow, any tips for a complete beginner? I came across this as a way to get in shape for the summer..

Start off really slowly - its much better to be able to speed up for the end than to be struggling because you started too quickly. Otherwise just enjoy it and remember that it will get easier :-)

Take it easy. And remember, we have all been there and are the living proof of what this programme can do.

Good luck and keep us informed of your progress 👍

Welcome to this fabulous running family. Loads of support on here to help you reach your goal!

Follow the programme, listen to Laura... and the mantra, as most folks on here will tell you, is, from start to finish slow and steady!!

Seriously, it is a great journey and the main aim, beside your own targets, is enjoyment

and it is enjoyable..:)

You keep posting and you will find a whole load of new faceless friends to help you on the way :)

Take it nice and slow and you will be fine - keep coming back here and I guarantee that any problem you come across you will find an answer here. Good luck and keep us posted. :)

Just do it, loved the first week and have just started second week myself. 90 seconds is so much harder than 60 seconds I must say.....

That's such a bad idea! Running is not "for the summer", it's addictive and once you start you're hooked " for life". :D

Jokes aside, thank it slow and steady, try to enjoy the journey and don't get disheartened if your weight doesn't drop immediately (at the beginning, you'll be replacing fat with muscles so your body shape will improve but you won't lose a lot of weight).

Welcome!!

I was you 3 weeks ago & now I'm starting W4R1 (tomorrow) Never thought in a million years I'd be able to do this. Yes it's hard but this forum or should I say now my friends on this forum are what have gotten me through.

You will get support & encouragement & no one will ever be mean or think badly of you on here, even if you have a bad day/week/run & it really does spur you on.

I can only reiterate what the others have said, slow, steady, slow, slow & slower!! It really makes a difference.

Weight wise I have stayed exactly the same the last 3 weeks however I can see my shape is changing, only slightly but there's a definite change, it looks like I've lost a few pound but the scales say not so as Secan says your body shape improves even if it's not lbs coming off but hey that works for me so keep it coming!! :)

Good luck with your first run, keep us all informed, we're in this one together :)

What all the folks above me said: Slow and steady, and listen to Lara. :)

Keep us posted on your progress. We are all rooting for you!

May the wind be at your back and the road rise up to meet your feet.

Remember to do some stretching exercises before and after your run. Good luck, keep us up to date with your progress.

well done, the first step is the hardest after that I agree - slow and steady is the name of the game. I don't think it will affect your weight initially - but take measurements now and you'll see some real changes there

let us know how you get on
