w3r2 - much better

I think we have really got into our stride - long may it continue - I know from reading the more experienced runners that there are good and bad days.

We tried to warm up a bit more with a brisker starting walk than last time, and whether it was this or the fact that naturally we must be building some muscle when it came to the final run my wife didn't get the heavy leg syndrome from week 1 at all and all our runs were at the same slow but comparable pace.

I after feeling a little bit under-exercised have changed my style a bit and found a high-rate small-step rhythm that matches my wife's pace nicely and still works me out well which has helped me.

Next run is planned for saturday - maybe outdoors? We were going to do that last saturday but the weather was unpleasant until evening so we did the usual night-time on road - tried out our trial shoes on sunday though albeit walking not running - lovely walk, nice countryside and views but very very muddy.

Thanks! We have r3 later today - was going to try it off road but weather a bit too crappy so it'll be on road again. Running in a forest sounds rather fun, perhaps we'll give it a go if the weather improves!

Make sure you get your rest day exercises in... the core strength and the stamina exercises are so important.

I am glad you are enjoying the running...just make sure you don't alter your natural running pace too much... it can be problematic.

Your stretching after each and every run is essential too.. and maybe rolling would help your wife.

Take it slow and steady and enjoy ! Well done both!

Thanks for the advice - the new pacing does actually feel rather better so perhaps it is closer to what I naturally ought to be running! It is all so new to me I'm not sure if I have a natural pace :)

Can you give us some advice on the rolling? We are curious!

All kinds of rollers are available.. large and small, bump, and smooth. For getting those knotted muscles knotted... they are wonderful!

I have a massage stick too.. exquisite torture but oh, so good!

Thanks for the links! Looks interesting and seems quite useful as we have progressively longer runs! And what do you know after I wrote that message (which I didn't send) I found a roller in lidl half price! Wife loves it!
