My last run I really struggled, so I was a bit apprehensive for this run. I had also had aches and pains from going back to work before I went to bed last night - however I tried to completely wipe my brain of anything that would stop me from going on my run today, and headed on out. I can definitely understand the idea of toxic ten now, as I did struggle to find my pace, however what was annoying was when Sanjeev told me to stop, I wanted to keep on going as I had found my rhythm. However, I did appreciate that 3 minute break as I knew that is the last one I have within the programme!
I had enough energy at the end to pick up my pace a bit and that felt pretty good, and managed my kilometre 3 split at 8'45" which I'm really happy about! However I'm still tracking the runs including the walking, so next run I'm only going to track the running so should be interesting to see how many km I can actually run excluding the walking!
I'm really happy about this run overall, so although I am really nervous about the next run and would like advice, I do feel like I can and will do it!
Curious question: Is it normal to have quite a high heart rate whilst running and not feel like you are struggling? - I noticed at the end before I started to quicken my pace on the last minute my heart rate was 180bpm, but on average on my whole run it was 155bpm but I wasn't necessarily exhausted.

Hmmm ok, I think my max HR is 200 with the usual formula, but I’ll guess I’ll just have to keep an eye on it and how I am during the run and obviously just slow down when I need to, thank you!
I have a very high heart rate usually but it seems to drop off quite quickly (and go up quickly too!). I don't currently have a fitness tracker...
I think looking at it doesn't help I always found myself thinking about it, getting distracted from whatever I was doing etc.
I am on Wk6 run 2 too, did it this morning after a 9 day break from the programme due to allergies and dodgy foot etc - it wasn't easy but I managed ! Quite anxious about the big jump. Was considering trying 20 min first... but I guess once you're going... don't know... maybe I should just give it a go ! I am scheduling mine for Monday !
Hahaha looks like we will be doing both our 25 min run on Monday, that's my next run day too!
Well done for getting back into it though! I had to be off for a week because of a knee injury and done W5R2 and it was daunting! I'm anxious as well don't worry, but if we can do 20 minutes, my mind thinks what's another 5 as long as you are being careful? I'm excited and nervous at the same time I think 😬
Me too !!! Excited but nervous as this feels like a PROPER RUN now !
What time are you going on Monday ? I usually do am, 8/9 - it's just so easy to get out of bed and do it, instead of sitting on it until later in the day !
Oh week 5 run 2 is evil ! I think mentally mostly, well done for diving into that one!!!
I think I need to revise my spotify list and put some more upbeat tracks on it, I put some more meaningful ones so my mind can wonder off but I need some crude beat !
I’ll look into this ! I love Jo Whiley‘s voice guiding me through the runs but we won’t obviously need them anymore - which is a bit sad in itself, don’t you think ?!
6 is a bit steep... I still wake up at that time (was made redundant in March) but cannot push myself to go out straight away.. perhaps in the heatwave I’m going to have to! Doesn’t help to have a snoozy husband & cat next to me ... 😴
Hay fever/asthma got the better of me and I went but only managed 10min 😖. It was heartbreaking but I couldn’t breathe at all.... it’s better now but now onto a womanly monthly joyful occurrence and heatwave ! Eeeek !!!
Ah ok good to know! Yeah I definitely don't think I could do the pace at the end I done for longer than a minute or two hahaha, hopefully that will end up as my normal pace at some point though!
