W6R1.. mentally easier but too many stairs

Hi all,

Finished run 1 of week 6 today. I found it a lot easier mentally and had a very positive outlook starting my run. However, in the city I’m visiting at the moment I was unable to find anywhere particularly suitable to run- leaving me to run down a fairly busy pathway with steps 😨

That said, I did it, onwards and upwards- hopefully I’ll find a park or a track before run 2!

Hope everyone’s week is going well!

You’ll find loads of places 😃. Flatter is easier to start with. Have a look on google map or goodrunguide for what’s near where you are now. Home in from above for a better view without leaving the building 🙂

Thanks for the advice. Google maps is unfortunately impossible given I am in china and for some unknown reason, Apple maps shows tourist areas as green (like big parks) in their maps which is irritatingly misleading. The hostel I’m staying in told me, when I asked, that there’s a sport centre nearby but only has treadmills and not a track (have it as a last resort, I prefer running outside). I’ll check out good run guide though thanks!

People's Park?

I was not a runner last time there - but can't wait to see China again from that perspective.

Smog is a bit worrisome until you get to Inner Mongolia, then the air is like silken vodka....

Wishing you many happy miles in your future :)

Can’t seem to locate a people’s park in Nanjing. Ended up running down some hutongs and back streets which was interesting but surfacing wasn’t ideal (almost tripped a few times!) I think I’ve gotten used to the poor air quality from living here for a while. My runs once I get home to clean air will be something else!

I loved the Peoples Parks, Guangshou, Nanning, Liuizhou, Chifeng etc :) Wish there was no such thing as 'home entertainment' her -so much activity, sociability and downright fun with all the people :)

Thanks! I’m determined to keep it up to make it into a lasting habit! I tell myself there’s no excuse not to run- it’s one of the only sports you can do anywhere!
