Completed my final run this morning, yay! The elation is slightly tarnished by the Nike app telling me that I've been living a lie for the last 2 weeks... It's been saying that my route is 5km and then this morning when I was all psyched to do a personal best, it decides it's actually only 4.2km! So I'm not sure if I've ever managed to run 5km after all. Of course it doesn't really matter as I've achieved what I wanted to - which was to run for 30 mins and complete the programme. And it feels so good!
This forum has been super helpful with tips and inspiration so thank you all for getting me through this There's so much wisdom here but FWIW here are my key learnings from the past 9 weeks: -
- Don't bother with another running app! On reflection I wish I hadn't bothered worrying about distance covered and having another measurement element for each run. The programme is what matters and I can worry about distance and speed once I know I can actually run!
- Hydration. This is talked about a lot on here and I definitely noticed the difference when I drank heaps of water the day before a run.
- Tell people. I told colleagues and friends I was doing this and knowing I'd have to update them on progress spurred me on on a few lazy mornings. And of course this forum is great for that too.
- Find your ideal running time of day. It's much easier for me to run first thing in the morning than in the evening - took me about 6 weeks to work that one out.
I think that's all for now. Looking forward to keeping on running and thanks again to everyone involved in C25k!
