I missed run 3 on week 4 due to a head cold, I should of done it on Friday, feeling a lot better now but my run buddies are doing week 5 run 1 tonight (we run Monday, Wednesday & Fridays) do you think it’s ok to go ahead with them and miss that last run on week 4?

Can your run buddies go back a run? That is the better option, and if they are real buddies they won't mind. Or can they skip one if they don't want to go back? If not, you can always run solo for a few weeks and catch up post-graduation. Running with friends is great, but depending on the groups personality types it can really get in a pickle when life gets in the way.

Sign up for a fun 5km together in a couple months. That's a blast.

You exemplify one of the problems trying to do such a training plan with others. I would never recommend anyone to skip a run and generally recommend that you do the plan on your own, for the most part, to avoid such situations.

I would be surprised if your little group gets to the end without others also having similar issues, so maybe you can come to an agreement to support one another and drop back to accompany any one of you in your situation.

That is far better than trying to push on not properly prepared.

You are so right at some point it won’t suit all of us so I ran by myself tonight and to be honest I actually really enjoyed it!

Well this reply will be too late because you will have done or not done! :D I agree with runswithdogs that if they're good friends they would consider re-running one and also with IannodaTruffe that realistically this is not going to be the last time this happens.

I definitely would not skip, especially since it's Week 5 you're about to go into. Plus given you've had problems with breathing before, you're disadvantaging yourself skipping ahead when some of the effects of your cold are surely still around? :)
