Is it Ok to repeat runs.

I started running at the beginning of January and it’s been a struggle. I’m carrying a lot of extra weight but I’ve stuck to it running three times a week. After the three week one runs I didn’t feel

ready to progress so I repeated run 3. Now I’ve done all three runs for week two and have just repeated run 3 again. I’m still getting quite out of breath and don’t know if I can progress onto week 3 yet where it increases to a 3 min run. Is it ok to repeat run 3 again or should I push myself and try progressing to week three?

Repeat the whole week of you like, until you feel comfortable to progress.

I would suggest going for it, you might surprise yourself!

That being said there’s no harm of repeating a run if you need to!

I don’t know if it makes any difference what time of day u run. I run just before lunch two days a week and the third run is first thing in the morning. That one seems easier somehow. Maybe I should start a new week/ longer runs on the early morning run.

Runs? I completed the program and then repeated it from the start. Why? Who not, we are not in any hurry, are we? ;)

Just take is sloow, and easy. Breathing will come under control but whatever you do, don't rush.

Firstly well done for getting out there.. secondly listen to your body, if you aren’t ready to progress then take at your own pace however it is good to push yourself sometimes within your comfort zone. X

Absolutely repeat runs if you need to. You could try moving on, and you'd probably find that actually you can manage the next week's run. But there's no harm in doing a 4th run for extra confidence before you move on - just make sure you don't keep putting off the next week forever ;) I've just done 4 runs in each of the first couple of weeks as my DD wasn't able to do one of them with me and didn't want me moving ahead. I'm now about to spend another 2 weeks or so working up from week 3 to week 4, as I know from past experience that my knee can't take it if I go straight in. Take it at the pace that's right for you and which keeps it challenging but fun. :)

Do the programme... honestly, just do the programme... You are doing really well because you have successfully completed every run which means you are ready to move on (if you walked in a run section that's different). You've clearly no shortage of guts because you keep getting out there. If you'd like it to feel a bit more comfortable, get that pace right down and take smaller steps.

The assumption always seems to be that the longer you are asked to run for the harder it must be. Not so.

It doesn't much matter if you decide to do extra, unnecessary runs - it's all contributing to establishing a habit of getting out there and becoming fitter, so that's good. But it is a sign that you don't yet trust the programme.

I think I’m gonna take the plunge and start week 3 next time I run. I’ve got a two day break coz next run not scheduled till Friday.

I did post an 'answer' here - and you bring up a question, and situation, we see pretty frequently ( and I probably asked it also in my newer days : ) so ended up writing more in depth than just a quick answer. I'm posting it on the main page in the hope that not only will it help you, it may help someone else in the same boat who might not see it if it were just here - hope you don't mind :) I'll title it "If you are new - so were all us Graduates" :)

Well done! You've been completing your runs successfully, so see no reason why you shouldn't go to the next runs and progress, be positive! go do it! remember, we are all behind you! 😊

If you need to, then repeat.. try taking it very, very slowly and steadily too :)

Have you had a peek at the Weight Loss forum too..many of the crowd here, are on there too and find it works well:)

Repeat as many times as you need to, that’s no problem. I would suggest two things tho: 1) you could probably go a lot slower and that would help with the breathlessness and 2) give it a go, if you’ve done all the runs in a week why not try the next week??.. you might surprise yourself 😁

And if it doesn’t work, just call it a practice 🏃‍♀️

Bit the bullet and just completed week 3 week 1. Not nearly as bad as I thought and actually 3 min runs were easier than the 90 sec ones!! Wasn’t running very fast at all but I guess it still counts! Very pleased with myself. Looking forward to run 2 on Sunday!
