Hi everyone, hope you’re all ok and have been pounding the streets, gardens, dreadmills.....wherever you do it....I know I’ve been quiet lately but, like I said before, don’t want to bore the trainer socks off you so here’s a quick update on what’s going on...I have been trying my BESTEST to keep running 3 times a week, as some of you know I cracked 5k at the parkrun week before last which felt AMAZING....I have been out 5/6 times since then, so I feel like I’m on target...my runs have been quite uneventful, so nothing really to report on but on Friday last week, Daddycav’s birthday, so I knew I wouldn’t get a chance to run if I didn’t go early morning....so I snook out of the house like a gentle breeze, unlike the snores I was leaving behind (!) it was 6:30 IN THE MORNING!!!! Whaaaaat? I hear you say?! It was dark & I had no lights except for the light of my phone, I covered 4K in just under 33 mins, not fast but not bad & let’s face it, I’m just in it for the enjoyment of running, not necessarily speed...but part of me wanted to go back to some structure, so, last night I was out again, I usually run on a morning but I have one of my babies at home poorly so I’m busy feeding him chicken soup & toast 😊 and making poorly beds on the sofa!! And watching Disney movies back to back!!! So last night was my only chance yesterday. I made sure everyone had eaten, laced up my trainers and rummaged in the drawers for a torch...I found one, one of the kids torches and the only way to fasten it to myself so it would be seen was to put it in my bobble...it flashed blue, red, white, pink...I had a little disco going on in my hair!! Made me think of rolysmate with his Christmas lights!!! I decided that I wanted to try again with Laura, so I put on a C25k+ Podcast, for speed...I liked the idea of intervals...off we went, walking to the beat 1.2.3.4 1.2.3.4...this feels better....off we go after 5 mins at a slow steady pace...1.2.3.4...the steps felt exaggerated & it felt too slow but once my breath had picked up and my body went through the ‘oh no we’re off again’ mode, I soon settled into the pace...interval number one running a bit faster...I can’t remember the bpm’s or how many intervals I did because I just forgot & listened to what Laura told me to do, at one stage I became aware of my breathing as one of my headphones decided to pop out & slap me round the cheek.... it was calm & deep & before I knew it I’d done, Laura praised me for doing so well and I found myself still running, I’d run through the cool down walk!!! I’d even run passed my house...I covered 3.4kms in 26 mins, still not fast I know....what world I was in I honestly do not know, but wherever it was, I enjoyed it & hope to visit there again soon....if you’re a graduate & need a bit of direction or some structure to your post grad runs I would HIGHLY recommend Laura’s podcasts, I have done them a couple of times before but not for a while, I forgot what an expert she actually is!!! She WILL get you through & I’m sure you’ll enjoy whatever world she takes you to!!!! Happy running peeps xxx
Laura.....: Hi everyone, hope you’re all ok and... - Couch to 5K
Laura.....
nice to see you back and posting the latest MummyCav excavaganza. I try Laura and speed but blimey she is a sergeant major. Still she works and makes you work too! Just off out orange square hunting....
have a nice day off and I look forward to the next escavade 🏃🏼♀️
Oooo, have a lovely orange square hunt!!! You are amazing Hidden ...!! Laura is a sergeant major but it works, she has a subliminal effect!!! I sure slept last night after that run & my legs feel strong today, poor dog has been marched around the block!!! Love reading your posts too...have a lovely day...
P.s....I like you ‘cav’ drops!!! X
Yup those 'cav' drops will keep coming, even if I have to excavate to find them. Orange Squares done and a Community Chest! Today I have run 21km (two runs), I feel like crawling into a hole and weeping...
Nice one MummyCav - difficult to find time sometimes to get out so its great when you make it. Loving the sound of your torch. Doing my own thing right now but will need to try the C25K+ PodCasts again soon. Keep looking at my 5k times and my fastest was when I did C25k+ Stepping Stone ... and that was in November!! ... and included counting the warm up/cool down walks!!! Laura is for sure a task master.
It’s Nic to do your own thing for a bit Richard7 , that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for a few weeks now but I’m worried about slacking on the distance & time...sometimes,if I just think I’m gonna go out for 20 mins some of that ends up as part walking coz I can’t seem to always get going...but I think that’s because I haven’t anyone telling me what to do & it can sometimes feel like a step backwards when I repeat random runs from C25k that’s when Laura just popped into my head..glad she did, I got a real workout!
I know what you mean. I try and force myself to keep running but sometimes settle for a walk in between. But it all depends what you want to achieve. Today I tried to improve my speed so did my own interval type thing. But my fastest 5k was still under Laura's watchful eye!
Hi Mummycav, running at 6.30am, with an improvised torch , doing the c25k+podcasts including speed and loving it...**who is this motivated running machine?😄...
Those of us who did the original podcasts for c25k already worship Laura's awesomeness... those that didn't can still learn from her c25k+ training tips..
Here is a link to a page where you can watch Laura in action and put a face to her lovely motivational tone...😊xx

Well done on all of your runs...still nailing it.xx
I know....I thought I’d got all my running surprises whilst I was doing the programme but I’m just surprised every run, I’m like a kinder egg!!! I’m going to have a look at Laura, she must have an army uniform on or a whip in her hand at least??!! She def knows how to make us work!!! Thanks Bluebirdrunner ....I’m having a great time 😉
Bluebirdrunner ....I have just watched Laura & I love her....shes not a muscly, stick with her abs showing from below her t-shirt, she’s just like us...a C25k graduate who enjoys her runs & knows the benefits of running...& she wants to share that with us all 😉....lucky us x
Hi Mummycav, nice to hear from you. Laura was just a regular person who worked for Health Unlocked and came across the C25K programme and persuaded the NHS to let her make the podcast.
How cool is that?!
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz 😪😴😴😴oh! Thought it was gonna be a quicky!😁
MC well done! I know, when life dictates it's not always easy with a family to get the runs in!
Laura is the best, I can suffer the music for a short period, when my wife does c25k again in the not too distant future after the nuerosurgery she had back in November, so I will do it yet again with her.. all the best!x😊
Lol...I did say it was going to be a quickie but half way through I’d forgotten I’d said that & just rattled on!!! Cheeky....Hope you’re wife is recovering well? I agree with you on the music, although I seemed to be able to block it out last night!!
Lovely to hear you are meeting your target. I haven’t tried the podcasts. I am doing a mixture of 30 minute runs with some 5-6k runs thrown in depending on the time I have as have to fit around the teenager duties.
I do miss running with Mr Smooth and am thinking of going for a run with him soon. Still out running 3 times a week so still loving my new found hobby 🙌🏻🙋🏻😀
Sounds like you’re fitting the runs in though? Three times a week is great, fitting it in around a family is difficult but needs must!!!!! I miss Mr Smooth sometimes too so I have repeated random weeks here & there just to keep him in my life!! Ha ha...glad you love your new found hobby, nothing beats a good run x
Who is this super runner???? It is YOU!!!!
Wow... what a post! I love the C25K+ podcasts, still use them such a lot.. Speed is my favourite... and really glad you are enjoying them.
Wonderful... well done you! x
Thank you Oldfloss ...I can hardly believe the transformation...even when I have what I consider to be a ‘bad run’ where I just can’t get into the rhythm & stay focusssd, I run as much as I can but there is no sloping home, shoulders down like I used to...there’s more to running than we realise....we just need to find it all out for ourselves, at our own pace & in our own time...no rushing, no great expectations...time is the key, as with most things. I really, really enjoyed my run last night...I didn’t realise you would still do podcasts, that’s good to know, cements that I’m doing the right thing x
I LOVE this post. Always a joy to hear from you, lovely MC! Sounds like you have your mojo on good and proper. 🏃♀️😀 I must give those podcasts a try one day, just as soon as I get my sorry arse back up to 30 mins running again (which won’t be long, am sure).
You are my running inspiration, dahling!
Sadie-runs xxx
What a lovely thing to say Sadie-runs ...I’d never think I’d be anyone’s inspiration?!! Just someone who waffles on about running!!! You will def soon be back up to 30 mins, you have the will power & determination so it won’t be long....then we can all read your wonderful posts that are too, a true inspiration 😘😘😘
Go you MC, 6.30am to squeeze in a run! Seems like your running mojo is coming into its own. You've stuck at it through thick and thin, love your determination... Love your posts, I want disco hair! xx
Now then lass, it sounds as though you were in a real good place and love the image of the flashing lights trotting along like disco diva lol.
Just got back from a very slow 4.5 miles as prescribed by my training plan, never thought I'd say it but running slow can be just as hard as running fast
Wow rolysmate ?! Slow or fast thats some distance there!! You’ve know about running with lights, I’d never have done that at one time but I thought of you at Christmas & if pocket rocket can do it, so can I!!!! So you see, we do all run along with each other!!! 😉🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻
Good to hear you cracked park run, you didn't sound like their number 1 fan 😂 Happy running !
Fabulous post, MC! I love the idea of you out trotting with twinkly lights in your hair. Great to hear you're keeping on and enjoying it.
I love early morning runs - but glad to hear the late run worked out for you too. I think it can be a great way to unwind, especially after a busy or stressful day.
Hope your little one is better now. xx
