About to start W4 R1

Finished W3 yesterday and I’m dreading W4!! I’m managing the 3 minutes run ok but 5 minute run is filling me with fear! I’m really asthmatic and am just about getting through it without my puffer (I always take it before starting) but I’m now worried I won’t make the 5 minutes without stopping!

Well done for getting this far, no need to worry about the next run I’m guessing you’re more capable than you realise! Listen to your body and if you don’t manage it think of it as a ‘practice’ and try again next time. Good luck!

Thank you!! I’m definitely not going to beat myself up over it. I’m doing it with my hubby just don’t want him being held back! But hey I’ll get there it just may take a bit longer. I’m enjoying it though so that’s keeps me motivated.

Take it very gently..try, and I know it is hard, to relax into the run. Listen to your body, but know you are strong and you can do this.. take your meds and try to breathe gently... mostly..go very, very slowly and steadily.

Think snail on a go slow... it is a great way to travel:)

Unless husband is asthmatic too.. do not try to keep up, or worry about holding him back..he can run ahead and come back to you :)

Your journey, your way... you are doing just fine:)

Thanks for your kind words.

He’s not asthmatic and yes bless him he’ll try and stick with me. He’s doing this more for me than him. 😊

I’m very determined but not too worried if it takes me a couple of runs extra to complete w4!

No worries.. you take this, very much at your own pace...:)

I am going to have to get back to it soon after no run for 3 weeks...and it will be very much at my own snail pace:)

I felt similar to you but I did the first run today and I found I had made it worse than it actually is. I went slow and steady and tried to improve my breathing. The step up from 3 - 5 mins, for me, sounded worse than I found it. Believe in yourself. The programme works, there is no doubt about it.

Thank you!! The thought of running made me cringe before I started, but I’m doing it! 😊 it does sound so much more but well done you. Looking forward to giving it a go. The programme is great I would never have attempted running without it, I’m definitely enjoying it.
