23 done 7 to go

23 done and dusted and just 7 more to go until Juneathon completed. Celebrated yesterday by doing a Parkrun, first one this year as I hate running in crowds :( I really am a lone runner at heart and find the crowds difficult to cope with but I gritted my teeth and went, I held back to let most of them go ahead so I could run my way!!! Battled with a strong'ish head wind for 2.1/2K which always causes me to wheeze but finished in 32:17 not as fast as I was last year but I knew it wouldn't be. I love Parkrun I just wish I liked running in big groups but find it nerve wracking.

Anyway I have lovely new Brooks Ghost running shoes which I will have to give at least 3 outings to end this challenge. Wish me luck, my little short legs must be getting shorter with all this running and walking I've been doing :)

Good luck with your final 7! Well done with the park run too. I've only ever done one because it's a long way from here and I'm not that keen on running fast!!

Well done Oldgirl, those shoes look fab and are well deserved.

I also don't like running in crowds either:( It really puts me off my pace and I hate the feeling of people rushing by, especially at the start. I'm doing Race for Life though as it is always super friendly and hope it'll be OK!

Running is very much my own headspace time, I don't even fancy running with one other person! How anti-social of me!

Your not anti-social at all, its what we have become used to. When I started running I didn't know any runners so it was me on my own. Still is cos all my friends think I'm nuts, and ask why would someone in their 60's want to run. My answer is 'Because I can' ;)

You should ask them why anyone would NOT want to run! ;)

Once I "came out" as a runner, I realised a lot of people I knew were, particularly at work, then wanted to go for a run with me. Argh!! I think my problem is a confidence thing rather than anything else. People are so supportive, but I'm convinced I won't be able to keep up with the people that have been running for years.
