And they told me running was an inexpensive sport.
Left to Right: On Cloud; Mizuno Wave Rider 20; Asics Gel Fujirado; Asic Gel Fuji Attack 5. Two road, two trail.
I have never been a shoes kind of girl. A pair of baseball boots and a pair of sandals in the summer, a pair of boots, a pair of flat shoes, and wellies for when it's muddy in the winter. So how on earth have I landed up with two pairs of road shoes and two pairs of trail shoes?! In my own defence, I was advised to rotate shoes to put the stress on different muscles etc because of the nature of my leg injuries, and some of these were sale items...but even so....
Edit: I did used to have a very fetching pair of high heeled cowboy boots and stiletto boots with gold toecaps at one time, but thatβs another story and ancient history π
I had my gait tested again and also ran in these on the treadmill in Up and Running and they felt fab, as far as I could tell. I'm going to be trying them out on Sunday. Can't wait! Are you using the elasticated laces? I didn't even tighten them when I tried them in the shop, and they felt fine, but a lot of reviewers online have complained about the elasticated laces.
Ah, just replied to your message and mentioned this. My gait is still absolutely neutral. Just as well given the shoes Ive bought! Last time it was tested, I was throwing my right leg out to the side a lot in compensation for weakness and shortening on my other leg due to fractured femur and damaged knee in my youth.Im still throwing it, but a lot less.
Ah, maybe yours is the Cloudflow, not the Cloud? I think the Cloud is the only one that comes with elasticated laces (that lots of people don't like) with a spare set of ordinary laces in the box.
A spare pair is a good idea, especially a different shoe. Expensive at first, but kind to your legs. BTW you can tell if you have the Cloud as there is a groove down the middle of the sole, with pods either side - looks just the right depth to get stones stuck in!
Yeah theyβre the ones Iβve got! No stones on as yet though π
I definitely would love a spare pair but my other half wants a new pair and is already complaining that I spent the family running shoe budget on mine ha!
Nice trainers there Flick... The blue are fab, what make are they? Or is blue wave rider the make as I haven't heard of those? I have 3 Asics and not trued any others, but I am a fan of these at the mo. I can't remember what my gait analysis confirmed, ie whether it was over pronation, etc. All I know is that my left foot rolled in a fair bit, which was more or less corrected with good insoles at a cost of Β£25. Brilliant though, all 3 trainers are comfy and light. Would still like to try a different brand though.
I like the sound of your boots though, think you will be gathering of good collection of trainers soon though π good for you lovely, I love those in the pic xxx
Aw, thanks quirkybee (LOVE your name BTW). Did you mean the turquoise blue or the muddy pair of blue? The turqouis are the Mizuno Wave Riders. The muddy shoes ar the Asics Fuji Attacks. The black ones, the On Cloud, dont look much, but they are amazing, incredibly light weight and the cloud foam pods on the soles help your foot spring up and forward. So comfortable.
Ha! Running IS inexpensive if you detest shopping like me! - Although I have splashed out on (one) pair of shoes. Otherwise ancient joggers, & leggings swiped from daughter ( revenge for all the underwear & sock theft) is the way to go! No Lycra in sight...yet!! π
Flick, you are going to laugh at me and feel free. I have just been to Tesco for food and spotted breathable gear that felt nice & soft (another reason for not online clothes- I like to check it won't be scratchy!) So now I have 2 bits of Lycra after all! π
I've gone from almost all high heels to walking shoes, walking boots, boots of all shapes and colours, my treasured running shoes and a couple of pairs of flats.
I'm restraining myself until the end of this semester before I buy anymore
I gave up on high heels some years ago. My bad back and knee meant they caused me problems. For the same reason, I've moved away from 12mm drop running shoes. The Mizunos aren't bad even so, but the new ones are lower and more comfortable. I wouldn't normally buy so many pairs of shoes at once, but i made some money by moving to a cheaper area, though I have to be careful as it has to last a long time for repairs to the house etc. But it does mean I can splash out of the odd thing. and as I'm rotating shoes, it will probably be years before I need to buy more Plus i don't smoke or drink or run a car, so my budget can stretch a little.
I had to give up the heels when I developed RA. My physio said that if she saw me wearing them again she'd slap me lol...she was almost joking.
I've always loved boots but nowadays they are usually flat. I do have some Rocket Dog bright red boots with a small heel but they are so 'bouncy' that you don't notice the heel.
I still have some of my more beautiful heels but think I'll donate them to charity this year as well as some of the dresses and outfits they went with. No point hanging on to the past and it will make room for more waterproofs and running gear
I love boots too. Im a boots and jackets with jeans kind of girl. And baseball boots in summer - but not Converse; they cost an arm and a leg, and I walk through the soles in 3 months.
I have three pairs still in their boxes Hidden - just in case (yeah just in case I lose my current two pair or I grow another 3 pairs of legs!) How SWMBO hasn't found them yet (along with my boxes of unused running gear) is beyond me - maybe she ignores then in compensation for the way I don't mention the clothes she has only worn never!
So today I have been for a gait analysis and also had to get some new trainers, early bday treat saucony don't know if they are any good but are very comfortable
