Hit by the lurgy

Yuk, have been hit by the lurgy, coughing for England, can’t imagine running to the garden gate, recently completed the c25k, on week eight I did our local parkrun in 31 minutes, since graduating I have been running 3k twice a week and the 5 k parkrun each Saturday, I have improved my time to just over 28 mins in seven attempts, I don’t always love doing it but I determined not to wimp out just because it is difficult, im quite proud of myself as am 56 and probably a little heavier than I should be, although lighter than when I started I’m always ready to stop at the end of 5 k so can’t imagine doing 10! Is there an app to get me going on this? I’m worried I won’t get going again after this bug .

Oh dear. Yes, being unwell can knock back your running. Might be worth posting this on the Bridge to 10K forum, because I know there is an app for getting you to 10K, and they’ll be able to help.

I don't really know much about it because I haven't got there yet myself - ( I'm consolidating after C25K) - but I know there are C25K+ podcasts to develop various aspects of running and there is a bridge to 10 K program, which I think Juju has put together. 😄

Well done on your times, but if you really want to enjoy running, slow down. 70 to 80% of your running time should be at an easy pace when you can hold an unfaltering conversation.

If you head over to the Bridge to 10K forum you will find advice and plans on moving forward.

Don't push yourself too hard if you have been ill. Give yourself a break and have a nice gentle run.

Keep running, keep smiling.
