Another newbie saying hello

I just finished my W5r1 a few minutes ago. I am in Texas and it was a little cold this morning. 23°F. (-5 degrees c).I figured I owed you all a big thank you for the motivation and advice you have unknowingly given me. The program has been great and much easier than I expected. I owe that mostly to the good advice I’ve gotten on this site. I’m really looking forward to knocking out the next couple this week.

You are very welcome to join us from across the pond. We are a truly international forum.

C25k is the perfect training plan for any new runner and it really does work by giving you achievable targets and gentle progression, which frankly, is the only way in running. Too much too soon is a recurring theme, from those who are out to prove themselves. Anything is possible, but it does take time.

When we complain of cold in the UK it is rarely as cold as your -5 for any sustained period. Week 5 is where the demands on you move up a grade, but stay nice and steady and believe in yourself (oh and practice grinning before R3) and you will be fine.

Keep us posted.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I think the most important thing I have learned from your site is to take it slow. And believe me I do. I’m 56 years old and in no hurry to hurt myself. I really enjoy the cold more than the heat here. We get over 100°F (38 degrees Celsius ) on a regular basis in the summer. I’ll take the cold weather for now.

Thank you. This is one of the more rewarding things I’ve done in a long time.

Welcome and well done for getting this far and being positive. It’s true that we whinge about the cold here, but it is seldom that bad.

Seems to be easier to run in the cold. We do get extremes in the weather here. W5r2 tomorrow. It should be a tiny bit warmer too.
