That 12 January is the most common date for New Year's Resolutions to fall by the wayside and most commonly the gym memberships, exercise regimes etc.
That alone was a prompt for me to get my running kit out!
Best ever distance run - yay.

I'm going tomorrow to have lucky 13th of first month of the year
Just finishing my mug of tea, then getting changed. I've got somewhere between 5 and 10K to get done, so it has to happen... Good luck for tomorrow, it will be lucky 13 I am sure
Enjoy your run today. Look around carefully. Today in the morning fairytale scenery pleasantly surprised me on my way to work: fog, dimmed yellow lamp lights, black shaped of naked trees, dimmed car light causing show of light beams on hanged in air water droplets. You never know when and how nature will astonish you
Not much nature in the City today, but I did manage my first 13k in honour of your “lucky” 13th tomorrow.
Although I did see a goose I am sure it was a goose on the South Bank....
An excellent reason for keeping C25K far, far away from that nexus of misery, guilt and and disappointment, New Year's Resolutions. Why do people torture themselves like this? You might as well make a list and write "I am a bad person because I don't..." Resolutions turn pleasurable activities into chores and punishment.
So far from motivating people, resolutions give people permission to fail....there are endless articles reinforcing the idea that you will abandon them, radio hosts even invite people to phone in and share their failed resolutions. How motivating is that?
People also make lists about his time of the plays and exhibitions they want to see, books and films coming out that they want to look out for, places they might go on holiday. That's the sort of list running should be on.
You know I have no idea, I've never done them and see no reason to.... My NYR (or as close as I am getting) is a pledge to run the year - 2018km to raise money for Alzheimer's Research. It's a yearlong challenge and pledge for something that is meaningful for me, not a bizarre 'don't do' item on the masochist list! It just made me smile when I read the item, I love my running not always it is true, but I still love the freedom it gives. And I agree that belongs on the 'nice' list not the nasty one
Ha! I always make a resolution to give up wrestling wild boars on the beach, never failed to keep that one!
Hope the running is going well Jan ;o)
Loving that resolution! Kit is on, playlist at the ready - Thunderbirds are go....
Run day for me tomorrow! First time increasing by 10% after weeks of consolidating after graduation. I hope this means I will actually get out there 🤣
You will of course you will, it was lovely out there today, even through the masses in London, it was nice...
I made..,,, By February resolutions instead ...... January is always a tough month 😬 Back in the Gym tomorrow 🤪
Good luck for that gym workout, and I agree January is hard after a month of indulgence...
Had 4 weeks off due to knee injury then got a stinking cold that’s taking forever to do one!!!! Glad of the Rest though Christmas Was hectic..... Dreadmill tomorrow to see how the knee holds up.....eeeek!
Oh definitely good luck for that then...
Ha ha...no broken resolutions here...I’m a runner no matter what time of year & I intend to stay that way!!! 😉
Yup me too.... btw I test ran the Mentor Playlist and Charlotte Gainsbourg with Rest came on at about the 11km mark, and the timing was perfect!
Hope you enjoyed your run. I was in the gym this morning along with a lot of NYR newbies. 🤓
Part of your rehab? Hope you’re better soon. I loved the run although at just over 13km my Mrs Overall impression was looking good. That was when I decided the Leaning Tower of Pisa gait was perhaps not the most healthy, still it was lovely to get out there. Happy weekend.
I usually try to alternate gym with running, but this week it's been gym alternating with gym and a swim. On Wednesday I even tried a new Kettlebell class as I was so bored of being in the gym. It was a tough work out but I must be doing something right as I hardly ached from it the next day.
Went to Fix yesterday, but alas no PCTs.
PCT Fix - maybe next week? I can save one for us....
Well done on the gym work - I am looking at two kettlebells hiding in my wardrobe... I think they are scared of the daylight - I am sure I've heard of vampire kettlebells...
Okay Thursday afternoon - it is - I will pre-order the PCT!
