Week 4 run 4

Another success and I'm surprised with how easy I found it, it really does gradually build you up however I am still dreading running for 25 mins straight well anything about 10 mins straight really!

Does anyone have any advice for when it gets tough during the upcoming weeks? :)

Dig deep and have faith in yourself and this programme. Every run is conditioning you for the next run, and you can do it. Trust me, I felt exactly as you do; be prepared to be surprised and elated! Running for longer stretches is more a test of mental strength at week 5. Do not allow any room for negativity - be bold and tell yourself I CAN AND I WILL DO THIS!

Well done on your running so far, you are sticking with it, so feel proud.

You WILL be able to do it. I was dreading it too, but as someone explained to me, the first 5-10 mins of the run are the hardest because your body is still adapting to the energy demands of running. I genuinely found doing one longer run was EASIER than two shorter runs. Just remember to run very very slowly.

Focus on anything other than the time - don't try to run down the clock. You will get into a nice rhythm after about ten minutes, your heart rate will settle and you will just einjoy the moment. If you start to falter, slow-down.

Mental strength comes into play on these longer ones and a sense of determination. Tell yourself you will run to the next junction/postbox/lampost, etc and when you get there eye another goal you think you can manage. Keep doing this, until the coach calls run finished.

Do this and I assure you there will be no greater satisfaction. You will be so proud of yourself. And post on here so we can be proud of you too.
