My shins are a little achy but all in all I'm actually looking forwards to it. I lost 5stone 10lb last year without exercise.This year my goal is to get fit!! I'm so determined.. Will The running help me tone up too?

Light strength training would be more effective for toning, likewise a diet suited to your specific needs and an adequate protein intake, but any form of exercise whilst in a calorie deficit will aid fat loss and muscle tone to an extent. It's not the most efficient method but that depends on your goals and resources.
