Week 1 Day 1 tomorrow!!

So I'm biting the bullet and starting to run tomorrow. It's probably been 20 years, 8 stone and a minor cardiac event since I ran last, so I was looking for some tips to make sure I don't bail at the first attempt! I've downloaded the couch to 5k app, but any other advice would be welcome!

Welcome ! You can do this. Slow and steady are the magic words. And always remember the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for ! Happy running 😀

Run slow... and no matter how it goes, be at the start line on Wednesday, that’s all you gotta do to beat this challenge... don’t quit... you can do this.

As the others have suggested... Slow and steady and then slow and steady again 🐌. As Oldfloss would say "find your inner snail".

Thinking back to when I started 12/13 weeks ago , it’s the getting out that’s the hardest thing. I’ve made so many excuses to not go: it’s cold, it’s raining, I’ve got stuff to do, trainers aren’t right etc.. once once I overcame this , it was a lot easier. Just get out there and do what you can do !

Go when suits you, morning/afternoon/evening - there is no correct or preferred time - just do it , and don’t worry about your pace - slow and steady is key; make sure your back is straight and upright , and not hunched and keep your focus on 90 yards ahead of you - Good Luck 😉

Everyone states slow pacing and im taking the advice onboard

Take it slow and steady, I started last week but forgot to log it so I was going to go for restart today. Luckily I just saw he GP and my BP was checked at over 180/90 so I have to wait till the candesarten and other stuff kicks in again (I ran out over Xmas) and my BP at least gets below 150. I'm saying this because you mention cardio event, (I too had a triple 2 years ago) so I really would not want to put you off, but I advise getting your GP's blessing first - I will be starting again in a few days, good luck!

On my 5:3 run I fumbled the phone at the end and so it didn’t log the run. I only realised this when I went to do 6:1. I thought I would play it through, but discovered the fast forward button, which meant a few presses and bingo, the run was over and logged. Not sure if this is the case with you but if it is, don’t feel you need to repeat it. If you want to repeat it, that’s another story and go knock yourself out!
