Hi everyone. I am totally new to this running malarky. Though I have always fancied it I have always considered myself too fat to run. However after an 8 stone weight loss (and still much more to go) I finally feel ready to start the couch to 5k with an aim of runnning my first 5k this summer! I hope to lose weight and increase my fitness levels! Wish me luck! Any tips for a newbie are welcome!
Chunky newbie: Hi everyone. I am totally new to... - Couch to 5K

First of all cute baby 👶 second well done on the amazing weight loss. Yes this programme is great and will have you running for 30 minutes in 9 weeks or there abouts. There are guides in the pinned posts that are well worth a look and will tell you everything you need to know. Keep dropping in here, it is incredibly supportive and motivating. Good luck, you’ll easy be doing 5k by the summer 🏃🏾♀️
Welcome to your support network and a new life!
Congratulations on that weight loss.
My tip is to read this guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... Hopefully it will answer most of your initial questions.
Keep us posted with your progress.
Welcome. The plan is amazing and it works. The feeling you get at the end is fantastic. Enjoy it.
Thanks all i'm looking forward to it. I've signed up to my first 5k for july too just for that something solid to aim for
I too have lost some weight recently but still much further to go and this week I started C25K. I have only done 2 sessions so far so cant offer advice but can support you.
As the only non runner in my family I have a dream of being able to run 5k by April and surprising my family by offering to come along. I have a lot of hard work in front of me I know that but it will be worth it in the end to see their faces when I join in. I sooooo want to tell them but I cant wait to see the reaction.
Oh good luck hun! I would love to hear how you get on each week and maybe we could support eachother through it! We should keep in touch and keep eachother updated. No doubt we will fall into some troubles at times and support and tips can always help. Good luck!
Sounds like a great plan! I like it
My next run is scheduled for Tuesday morning so I will update you after. Please do let me know how you get on tonight
Well i didnt get to strt it last night as there was so much ice i nearly slipped before getting to the end of my road! However i managed to get out at lunch time and started the first step of the programme. It went well. I can just about run for 60 secs at a time without dying lol. Looking forward to the next time on sunday now how have you got on x
Yes the ice at the moment is difficult but the main thing os you did it. First one done and your looking forward to the next. Thats great! Im not able to get out for my next run until Monday because its all in secret lol but i did manage to go out for a 3 mile walk. I tried to be quite speedy to get the heart pumping.
Remember yo stretch after your run, its easy to overlook but really good advice i received. When are you out again? 😃
Next out sunday now. I did stretch but i need to look up proper ones rather than my own made up ones lol. 3 miles is good well done! Ive started walking alot more and am so enjoying just being outside!
I have been told that walking will even help out with the running. Nit sure how true it is but it is still exercise and yes im the same, outside in fresh air and enjoying some me time 😃
Believe in yourself and trust the plan. Good luck and enjoy!
Wow! Such an achievement already. Inspirational I look forward to finding out more
How amazing. Well done for joining, once you get into the swing of things I'm sure you will really enjoy it.i did my first 5k last week at the park run and it was very encouraging, they didn't mind that it was more walk than run.
Well done! Im planning my first step on the programme this evening once kiddies are tucked up in bed. Im quite excited lol
Oh my goodness how well you are doing already!
Seems like you are not lacking in the motivation or drive needed to do this. Some great advice here. Really just, keep going, keep posting. It is a great programme that is challenging but doable, and it is a great forum with lots of support for any questions or concerns that you have.
