Well done and welcome to the forum.
As you say, distance covered will vary hugely across the range of individuals doing the programme, but if you start off planning that you will cover between 3 and 5k in total, you can adjust as you go along.

Distance covered and pace are inconsequential as far as the training plan is concerned, as it is purely duration based and you will never be asked to run any specific distance or pace.
It works. Stick with it.

Me too - just completed my week 1 run 1 and was wondering the same as have been using other apps that tell you. I find that quite motivating too. But well done 👍 hopefully you feel good about it.

As lannodatruffe says, this program is based on running for increasingly longer durations. It is well tested and it works. You're training will get you running for 30 minutes, and everyone that graduates reaches that target regardless of the distance they cover.

As far as route planning goes, somewhere flat is ideal, without too many roads to cross ( I stated in a park) and you will be out for around half an hour so could turn round at the halfway point if need be.

Thanks for your reply. I totally understand the concept and am not concerned about the distance. I ran on a flat path around a lake which I have now researched and seems to be about a mile each curcuit. But I don't want to do the same run all the time and was thinking in advance about planning a few other routes.

I've just completed the first week and have been running approx 3.5k, I am running with a buggy though which is going to impact on my distance.
I Have been using Strava to track so I get an idea of distance.

Understand wanting to plan a few different routes! Can you do a few different "out and back" routes? Run round the lake the other way?
I used mapmyrun (route planner on the web, not tracking with the app) to get an idea of distances and slopes too after I took a wrong turn once and went up a hill I couldn't manage, but not until later on (week 6 I think). I really had to resist the temptation to get hung up on pace and distance, and I think you've already been warned against that!

In fact I did run round the other way and that's what got me thinking that at some point I would like some other routes.
As I live on a very steep hill I thought at bit of planning would be a good idea.
