W1R1 didn't go overly well, I managed to run for the first 3 runs but struggled to do a whole minute on the remaining ones. Plus I tripped over on the second to last run and had to limp home! Hopefully I'll be alright for the next run in a couple of days!
I've started!: W1R1 didn't go overly well, I... - Couch to 5K
I've started!
Well done you for starting.I find this forum really supportive as well as lots of useful info. Keep going!#
Yes I figure I can't do any worse than today!
Week 1 was a bit of a beast for me and then I never had to do any extra runs after that.
If it is tough, then my strategy to see progress might be worth thinking about. I did each run interval until I got to one where I had to stop.... and then I just walked for the rest of the podcast. I feel that helped me measure progress very clearly rather than running a bit, walking a bit, running again.
Don't forget that you only have to engage in a running motion, you don't actually have to move any faster than you can walk and if it is getting tough go slower, take smaller steps.
That's rotten luck to fall over on your first outing. I hope you recover quickly.
It can only get better! Brilliant that you got started and will carry on. My next run is W3/D2 and I am really enjoying it! I had a really difficult run last week but felt so fantastic when I completed it! Good luck!
I predict that in three weeks time you will look back at that run and feel you have moved on unbelievably and in a couple of months or so you will be running for 30 minutes and be staggered at your staggering start. This programme changes lives and we will cheer you all the way.
Welcome and good luck.
I can honestly say that you will improve and you will be able to do these runs. I'm on Week 7 and although I've hit a wall with the 25mins runs, what I can run now is amazing! Stick at it.
Well done on getting started on the programme; that's half the battle over with, getting out there and doing it! Sorry to hear about your mishap though. Hopefully your next outing will run (geddit?!) much smoother and without further incident. The programme really, really works; eight weeks ago, running for sixty seconds seemed like it would end in the attendance of a paramedic, but a few weeks down the line and I completed W8R1 this morning and look back in amazement at my progress. You'll be the same in a few weeks too; another thing is that the time will fly by. One second you're on week three, the next is week eight and you've progressed more than you ever thought possible. So stick with it, good luck and keep us all informed on your progress.
Well done on getting started and welcome to the forum. It's well worth taking the advice of Googleme and going really slowly for the running sections - that way you are less likely to run out of steam. It will get better and you will gradually notice the improvement and progress you make. Good luck with your next run and best wishes.
