After a week without running went out today and after 10 mins developed and intense right hip pain and ended up limping home, still painful with pressure not at rest despite ibuprofen and paracetamol, anyone able to identify with this?
Properly fed up!!: After a week without running... - Couch to 5K
Properly fed up!!
Hi, hope it's better this morning? Just replying in case someone else might see this and offer some reassurance, but I imagine the thing is to get to a doc/physio for professional advice for you. I really hope it's nothing more than overdoing it after the week off but of course I'm not qualified to say
I notice you twisted your knee (though not running) recently too so I feel bad for you! Really hope you can get back to it soon.
I.m joining icklegui in wishing you well and hoping your leg is better this morning. Is it the same leg as your knee twist? if so maybe connected? I am not qualified but note that lots of people advise not to run with pain (as opposed to an ache). If it persists I think you should speak to a physio
I want to second everything seen above.
I had huge problems with my knees, when I went to the physio they said it was because of something in my lower back, it’s all connected. If it not the same hip as your knee it might because you’re overcompensating?
Go see a medical professional!
Hello TBJFB & I'm sorry for this frustrating sore hip. I agree with the others - see a medic. The running will be there for you when you are sorted. 😀
Lower back issue could be a result of bad posture or too much pressure when running. It normally settles down within a week or so but proper strengthening exercises are a must. However, if your discomfort persists l would advise either a good osteopath or a physical therapist. Medication helps with pain but never with the actual problem and your GP is likely to simply prescribe just that and recommend some rest. You've done gait analysis and wear suitable shoes? Remember, even if the pain goes away and you haven't addressed the issue it is likely to hit you back.
