I went running on Friday and had a great run. Then during the night my knee started to hurt. I felt nothing during the run. Then spent two days icing etc and all pain went. Went back on run this morning and after one km it starting hurting so I stopped straight away.
Don’t know what to do. Gutted as running is my lifeline. Do I just try every time it doesn’t hurt? Or just leave for a week? Honestly don’t know what I did as nothing happened on that run on Friday!

Sorry to hear of your pains... great call today stopping straight away. Have a read of this runnersworld.com/uk/health/...
Also the NHS strength and flex programme did wonders for my knees last summer, I’m now pain free for the first time in 30 years.
I can’t really answer the question as to how long before you should run... I used to go for a walk then jog, literally 20 yards, walk again, sprint 20 yards, walk to a hill, run up it for 30 seconds, rest and run back down... if I passed all of that pain free I’d give a run a go, nice and gently on the flat, avoiding hard surfaces.
Post injury, strengthening work on rest days will help to precent recurrence... I wouldn’t recommend starting this while injured though without first consulting a physio.
I think I was on week 3 when I injured myself on a rest day (being stupid doing sprints on the beach) I could hardly walk and as luck would have it Lidl were selling knee braces for £7 (my have been 6) at the time... I got them and ankle ones too. I wore them all the time for a couple of weeks with no running. Once they came off at home I used them to start running again for a couple of weeks. I was aware that running in them would inhibit my development a little so I got them off as soon as I could. A non-brace support will help with much less of the development issue, so I could have used one of them for longer I guess. It’s a case of finding the right one for the pain though.
Worst thing is not knowing what we did to get the injury. You could have landed awkwardly without realising it..Running with pain is a real non starter and if you strap it..there is no knowing whether you're doing further damage.
I would err on the side of caution and get checked out by a Sports Physio'.
I struggled with my latest injury! Doing everything right, but still ended up seeing my Physio.
Knowing what is going on is,for me , the first step...😊
Well done...not a failure...a really sensible runner.i had to stop...first time in nearly 4 years...and had to get MrOF to rescue me...but I am slowly getting back on track...and the runs are patient...they wait for us..😊
