Fed up

So last week , I thought , was going well 🤔 Week 2 run 2 felt great & was looking forward to run 3 on the Friday. But my knees were really bad & I haven't been out again this week either. Maybe too big a ask at 56 to think I could do this after no exercise for years & trying this . But I'm going to give it another go next week starting from w1r1 again

Don’t worry I repeated and I didn’t mind as I just wanted to get the run right before moving on, we all have runs that don’t go to plan but just remember that your only doing this for yourself so it doesn’t matter how many weeks it takes. My knees to begin with felt sore but I have found that as you progress your muscles build up and I haven’t had nearly as many sore knees hope this helps

Thank you . If I have to repeat then I will until like you say my muscles build up . Maybe repeating more than once or twice 😉

Well done! You’re not giving up, that’s the main thing. If w2r2 felt great, have a few days rest and have another go at a W2 run. If it really bombs go back and do a w1 for confidence. Just 1 and then move forward again. I’m not an expert but your runners body will be getting stronger and your runners mind will benefit from making progress. Your choice of course, but see how it goes when your legs feel better. Good luck!

My physio said that even when you begin running you need to get fitted with the correct shoe. She told me to get my gait analysed by a proper running shop. I know it's an expense we don't want but it could save your knees from any damage.

Hi. It's not too big an ask. I am just like you. I am 55 this month and am on w3. I have had problems with my knees but I think they are recovering quicker now. Sometimes you need an extra recovery day. I haven't run since?? Can't remember before starting c25k but I am determined to do it. You can do it too but at your own pace 😊

Don't be so hard in yourself, take this as slow as you like , keep going at your pace ,

It took me 16wks to complete this program

I have had highs and lows aches and pains

Life in general got in the way

I was determined to complete this before I reached my 58 birthday ,

I didn't but I am still here

You can do this 😉👍🏻

My knees were awful for the first 2 weeks but having just finished W4 they are definitely much better. I took everything very slowly and also did the dreaded Google search for advice. The bits I took notice of were adjusting the way I was placing my feet (I stopped heel striking) - it took a bit of getting used to but now feels much more comfortable. I also did the nhs knee exercises- much to the amusement of my labrador! Keep persevering and find what works for you - by the way i'm still taking everything slow!!

My knees are not great so I’m repeating each week. I did 2x week 1 and I’ve just finished 2x week 2.

I’ve decided to do that all the way through rather than risk having to give up 🙂

Thank you so much to everyone's words of advise & encouragement. I will get my self sorted & start again . It really has given me a boost & a kick up the backside 😂 If it takes 9 weeks or 16 weeks I will get there . 👍😉
