I just completed W8R2 the last 3-4 minutes were a push but I'm pretty sure I passed 5k π
I had an afternoon with my pal eating and drinking the wrong sort of stuff. I don't do it often so it's a treat. I'm on annual leave π§π·
But today's run has made me think that as the runs get longer the right fuel is important. 5k is no marathon but I still want to eat well without carb overload. Any tips? I'm veggie π₯π½
Sometimes the βwrong stuffβ becomes perfect fuelling for your next run, as long as youβre hydrated after alcohol.
There is no need to fuel the run specifically at this distance, but I do like to fuel the muscle development with a little post run protein. My daughter does too, so we take a small slice off her meat portion for the evening as she is losing weight and so doesnβt want extra food.
I always run before breakfast, so it's just a cup of tea for me. I even managed 21km on just a cup of tea on Friday morning - though I was ravenous afterwards. I try to make sure I hydrate the evening before and have a well balanced dinner. I guess everyone is different.
