Fuelling up properly?

β€’7 Replies

I just completed W8R2 the last 3-4 minutes were a push but I'm pretty sure I passed 5k πŸ˜€

I had an afternoon with my pal eating and drinking the wrong sort of stuff. I don't do it often so it's a treat. I'm on annual leave πŸ§€πŸ·

But today's run has made me think that as the runs get longer the right fuel is important. 5k is no marathon but I still want to eat well without carb overload. Any tips? I'm veggie πŸ₯‘πŸŒ½

No need to worry about fuelling until going over 10k, just eat healthily and make you're well hydrated..

Sometimes the β€œwrong stuff” becomes perfect fuelling for your next run, as long as you’re hydrated after alcohol.

There is no need to fuel the run specifically at this distance, but I do like to fuel the muscle development with a little post run protein. My daughter does too, so we take a small slice off her meat portion for the evening as she is losing weight and so doesn’t want extra food.

Good job on the run.

The guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... mentions diet, but you do not need to eat more just because of C25K.

Oh I'm not eating more. I guess it's pretty obvious that Pinot Grigio isn't really the hydration of choice πŸ˜†

I'll be right sticking with my egg on toast for breakfast though! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Either my watch or Nike app are talking rot, I did 4K so still need to work hard to get to 5k in 30m

I always run before breakfast, so it's just a cup of tea for me. I even managed 21km on just a cup of tea on Friday morning - though I was ravenous afterwards. I try to make sure I hydrate the evening before and have a well balanced dinner. I guess everyone is different.
