Just finished week 1, my calves were really painful especially on the walks.. would have been so easy to have given up. Luckily my girlfriend was with me and she is fitter than me so dragged me along! Week 2 starts Sunday! 😱

Well done... but sounds as though being with a faster runner might be a mixed blessing. Yes, motivation to keep going and not give up but perhaps not helping you develop a slower and more sustainable pace for you over 30 minutes, hence the pain you're experiencing. However, good news, Week 2 is often easier!

Thanks, to be fair she wasn’t pushing me and even suggested slowing down at one stage. 👍

Keep running, keep smiling.

Might help with the pain to really focus on stretching your calves before you go? I definitely find it gets more painful the less I stretch them, but also as you get more used to the exercise it should ease off :)
