Just finished my 3rd run of week 2 - I found it harder today than the other runs this week. I’m a bit concerned about starting week 3 on Tuesday!! I have managed to complete all the runs so far (going so slowly! 😄) but I’m worried that running for 3 minutes might prove too much for me - did anyone else feel like this after week 2??
W2R3 Oof that was hard!: Just finished my 3rd... - Couch to 5K
W2R3 Oof that was hard!
It's always a bit disappointing/worrying if a run you've already done is suddenly harder, particularly if it's the third one!
Remember there's lots of factors. If you've slept poorly, eaten too much or too little, had a busy day, or even running at a different time of day than usual.
I just got back from W3R1 and it was so tough, it felt like W1R1 again. But I completed it.
It's my own fault since I went out drinking last night, so slept poorly etc. I went at 5pm as supposedly this is when 'cardiovascular efficiency peaks'.
What got me through (or to even go out there) is that you are still running 9 mins, the same as week 2, and there are just 4 runs! There's 6 run intervals in week 2. Don't think of the time, think it's just 4 runs AND two of the runs are 90seconds, which you did 6 of in week 2!
Once you've done that first 3 minute run, there's a very long 3 minute walk, it almost felt too long to recover. And then once you're at the second 3 minute run, you can tell yourself 'well I just did this, so I know I can PLUS it's the last run.'
The last 3 mins was tough, but just tell yourself those bits! You'll be grand.
Some runs are harder than others and it looks like you have worked out why this one was tricky. Stay positive and keep going and you will get there
I felt exactly the same on Friday when W2R3 killed me and I was dreading week 3 but stay positive I completed W3R1 this morning. Whilst it was definitely hard, I completed it and it wasn't worse than Friday's "run". You can do it.
