Week 7 day 3

First run of the year, a day late as my little running companion was just getting over an ear infection and it was very wet and windy yesterday.

Today was a wet and dismal run brightened by disturbing a Tawny Owl who flew in front of us for a while. We must have disturbed him away from hunting as a little mouse leapt into the hedgerow. Luckily my little dog was still on his lead as he tried to chase the mouse. He is a terrier and is always excited when he spies scurrying things.

It was a steady run, nothing exciting but another step on my journey. I probably ate too much yesterday as I was feeling sluggish today.

This year I have signed up for the walk 1000 miles in 2018 and will be doing my best to pick up a tennis racquet again for the first time in 10 years.

Good grief it's been 10 years since I was finally diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and RA although I had been suffering with symptoms for many years before.

At one stage I could only crawl and now look at me, running!

If I can do it please believe that you can too.

Happy running no matter the weather and a very happy new year x :)

Very well done you... getting out there it sounds to have been a lovely run, with so much happening!

Slow and steady is perfect for these longer runs..relaxing into them and letting the legs find their happy pace.

I suspect a few folk will find it hard to get back on track after some seasonal feasting :)

I love the running, Oldfloss, the actuality of the movement, the fluidity that sometimes occurs when I'm on the flat and can stretch into my pace. Thanks for all of your support :)

That is brilliant... I would love some, flat, to run on!

There are a few relatively flat bits on my routes but the majority is hill work. No good for speed but good for stamina.

Thank you, Amarigue, we women just have to get on with things when we have children don't we ;)

Well done Lesley, a very inspirational post. I do admire folk who are out before dawn, not really my thing tbh but I could imagine it being very therapeutic 😊

Keep it up, not far to go now 😊x

I've always been an early riser, Ted, so it's not a hardship for me :)

Thanks for the encouragement, it's always welcome :) x
