W7R3 today??

After running in all weathers and conditions for week 5 and 6 was looking forward to slightly warmer and better today. W7R2 went well but for a slight tightening of left calf and onset of man flu 🤒. Now a fully fledged stinky cold and a sore Achilles to go with it worry today won’t go well. Desperate to run as the schedule (I do every other day not 3 runs a week) would have me graduate before the years out. Just conscious if the tendon gets too enflamed it could put me back weeks 😕

Don't run!

If you have all those issues, it seems risky and you could end up on the IC . Calf twinges are a pain..literally... and can be the first sign of a deeper problem.. and if you are under par also, running is not a great idea. Roll that calf muscle. take a bit of time to recover, some exercises for your Achilles, and see how that cold develops?

The runs will still be there, and you don't want to risk putting yourself on that IC for a long time!

The calf is fine now it’s more the Achilles area. I’m going to give it a go but won’t be pushing it too much. Will do pre walk and post run stretches. Ice pack ready and some ibuprofen if it doesn’t settle down. Walking and running it feels fine it’s more when I’m not active that I feel it. The man flu/cold was there on Sunday and although my grey hoodie looked like Sly Stallones in the first Rocky film (sweaty) I actually felt better. I blame this all on the program/app it’s like a drug. I never ran after finishing playing football 17 years ago now I can’t wait to go out again 😳

I'm with Oldfloss on this. I think you would be foolhardy to go out. The Achilles is a tricky beast and surely it would be better to graduate a little later and all in one piece?

As others have said, take time off, get yourself well.

Graduation is to be enjoyed, it can be a New Year treat 🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️

Bit naughty and typical male not taking advice went for run and all was fine the Achilles actually feels like it’s eased off now so think more stretches might be the way forward. Pace a little slow with cough having me cackle around the mid point but feel great now. Probably do two more runs before a 2 day break then looking forward to a nice Boxing Day morning run hopefully with my super fit son. I won’t be going all alpha male and trying to run faster he’ll be going a 52 year old pace 😳. Thanks for all the advice and concern without people like yourselves many would fall by the wayside. 48 hours now of stretching 🙆‍♂️ to keep things right and I think I’ll be ok 👍🏼
