Only 6 more runs to go. Did a run Monday and a class yesterday so was a little sore and tired today but just took it slow and enjoyed being out in the Park with the sun shining on me

Very well done, you're gonna walk it,not literally tho. I got another telling off from Admin for running 30 minutes today so I've said I'll run 20 on Friday to make up for it! Seriously tho it's brilliant to know that running for 30 minutes is not a pipe dream. As an ex runner what would you suggest I do when 9 weeks is up? I don't think I want to run more than 5k so is once or twice a week running for 30 minutes/5k sufficient?

I’m no expert by any means but I’m sure just sticking to the 5k is plenty. I used to only run twice a week and I only used to do 3 miles. I eventually went to 4 then 4.5 but didn’t do that quickly. 30 mins of exercise should be fine so maybe just stick to the 30 minutes and you may do more in that time

I do quite a lot of walking and cycling as well as running now, I'm quite lucky as I wound my business up and retired early and now only do it part time so have plenty of time to do these things.

If your walking and cycling a lot then 5k is more than enough. I’m so jealous you managed to retire early, I’ve got another 30 years to go 😫 I’m going to be 78 when I retire!

If your Avatar is your photo then you're nowhere near 48! I'm enjoying life now the pressure is off but you do need to keep the body and mind busy.

Ha! 😂I meant I’d be 68😂 I’m adding years on!! Yes it’s good to still keep fit and active, brain and body 🙂

You must be the first woman in the history of mankind to ever add years on to her age! 😁

Having 2 little Grandchildren helps keep you young but it certainly makes you very conscious of your own mortality.

I’m sure it does, I’m a long way off that at the moment but it’s good to keep fit now ready for it 😂

6 more runs for me now as well 😁 went back to running early today, I must say running later seems easier but I do prefer running earlier. Woke up with a bit of back ache so took it very steady today and stopped dead on 25 minutes (as directed Oldfloss 😁) and ran 3.62k roll on Monday and a 28 minute run. Bring it on!

Well done hatter! I was supposed to run today but thought after a long week back at work I’d treat myself to an extra rest day and run tomorrow morning. I like you am getting on fine with the later runs but still prefer my morning runs so I think I will do mon, wed, sat from now on. I can’t believe we have nearly finished. We will be on that podium before we know it!

I try to run Monday, Wednesday and Friday when I can and then have the weekend off, there's a 5k park run obong my exact route tomorrow morning so will go down and have look at that. Have a good weekend and roll on Monday.

Not tomorrow I'm going purely to observe, would of been nice if they had asked permission to use my route!

Yes very cheeky of them 😂😂

What are your running plans once you graduate?

Run1980 profile image
Run1980Graduate in reply to

I think I will start by just sticking to the 30 mins runs and see how far I get. Then eventually I will do the couch to 10K 🤞

in reply toRun1980

Yeah. I think I’m in the same mind. I want to be able to do 30m fairly easy first off

Run1980 profile image
Run1980Graduate in reply to

Yes I think when I’m starting to get the 5k easily in 30 mins then I think I will be ready to move on

in reply toRun1980

Almost there then!! 😂😂

Keep it up!

I sometimes do the snail shuffle! 😂

You too! Snail 🐌 shuffle seems to be the trend!

in reply toRun1980

😂 we all get slightly quicker over time. It’s a bizarre feeling, running for any length of time when you’ve never done it before. Feels good when you’ve finished it!

I definitely want to carry on running so my plan at the moment is to hopefully run 5k once a week and fit my walking and cycling in around that.

in reply toHATTER8142

Yeah. I’d like to include some cycling too at some point as I do enjoy it.

I love cycling used to do the 10 mile time trials years ago,no road bike and lycra for me nowadays tho, now it's t shirt and shorts and a hybrid bike with panniers on the back.

in reply toHATTER8142

Haha agreed. I do fancy one of those electric bikes but I guess that’s cheating. 😂

I've thought about those as well! don't think I'm quite there yet tho but I will have no problem getting one when the time comes.
