After 12 days of resting my strained calf, putting my old rolling pin to new use (!!) and many stretches, I double warmed up and trialled some 1 min slow jogs - in fact a W1R1 revisit - it is amazing how much 60 seconds has shrunk compared with three months ago! All seemed ok, so I will proceed with caution - determined to stay off that IC! 😃

Great for you! You're right to take it gently and slowly though. Make sure you get some nice smooth music to jog along (not to be tempted to go too quick)!
That's a good idea thanks - I just had a blast from the past with Laura today - I did enjoy her encouraging voice again! My normal running playlist is called 'Ruuun', so time to put together 'Smooooth'! 😄
You managed to run along that awful Cossack track? Well done! Not very "smooth" really! I've been keeping Laura's guidance from W9 on my runs as well (35 mns because of the Julie track during warm-up which I like to "launch msyelf into a jog" as I need a 10 mn walk to reach the park beforehand ;-): even if I hate most tracks, I actually enjoy running on them, strange isn't it? I will try some of 5K+ podcasts (the stepping one seems very difficult to follow!) when I feel completely comfortable. Have a nice rest day!
I haven't tried a 5k+ podcast yet, but they are in my plan when I am ready. First I need to rebuild running for 30 mins with happy calves! Think I need Beethoven as a coach just now!! - You know that lovely long slow build up from the end of 'The King's Speech' from his 7th symphony?!!😂
Indeed! I still haven't watched the King's Speech (have the DVD yet in the hope that I would do a session on power with some of my students but haven't got to it) but definitely the second movement of Beethoven's 7th lol I can imagine on running on that!! A great feeling of soaring... Hope it will give you wings. Have a nice weekend (my run is planned for tomorrow, went nordic walking with the club this morning)!
As a person who has relatives who stammer, I have mostly watched the film from the view point of personal struggle /triumph with that - but of course it would be a great way of looking at both power and powerlessness- I feel excited on your students behalf! My students are much too mini for that - but I often play calm "thinking music" - no prizes for guessing which new piece I will treat them to! Off for my calf coaxing recovery run 2...
